Champwhite,

Perhaps you can go around some places in Katong shopping center, where they sell cloth..and see whether they sell those lint remover, aka roller types. Will take some time to clean off, but better than to let them have a second go at removing the lint...

Good luck and let us know the outcome!.

Hi Guys

I start this thread not to slime but after a few incidents, I feel compelled to share my experience with the above coy. Their polishing techniques and waxes are good, but there are other things that I would like to highlight for your attention if you are considering them to detail your car.

I am sorry to hear that. I used to be a member too but did not renew it when the membership expired. I have no complaints against the boss and the manager, and I am happy with the products. But I was not comfortable with their workers. They lacked passions when grooming the cars, and they seemed unhappy working there. I decided to DIY.

I did mine some years ago on a black Saab. Generally good but agreed with tategol that the staff lack passion. And the price..... super expensive.....

Ya, you guys are right on the money, tategoi and black cat! Their workers just go through the motion and they somehow cannot comprehend how much the cars they are polishing cost!

I guess I should have avoided going in during hari raya haji eve. Geeshhh... all of them were rushing to go home asap!

Damn...

Thanks for the tip on the lint remover ryan... will get myself one tomorrow.

Hi guys. Just thought I'd give a progress report.

I got myself a 3M lint remover and it works a treat! Almost all the lint plus more of other stuff were removed without harming the canvas (thanks Ryan!). I then sloshed the top with the impregnator and left to dry in the sun. I then treated the top with 3M scotchguard and did more drying in the sun. Result: Jet black roof again with a bit of shine thrown in! :)

3M stuff's really good! (no, I don't work there).

Tomrrow, I am going to gun down Carworkz... :furious:

Hi Champ,

The impregnator you got from BMW?
May i know what's the 3M scotchguard used for?

Hi B

Yup, impregnator is from BMW. The 3M scotchguard is a protective substance that is also water repellent. It's used for a variety of outdoor fabrics and on some clothing like ties (so that if you are careless like me!) to prevent stains.

Cheers!

Hi champ,
Thanks for the fast response..
Understand that the Impregnator serve as a water repellent agent as well, does it prevent stains too?
BTW, What kind of brush did you get for removing dirt and dust?

Hi B

The 3M lint remover is what I used. It's about SGD8 and does not damage the canvas. As for the impregnator, I dunno if it is a stain repellent. That's why I use 3M scotchguard for assurance.

Anyone would like to enlighten both B and me on the impregnator?

The answer is no. Impregnator is merely water proofing agent and does not help in preventing stain. That being said, the BMW impregnator is a very good product and i have been using this for the past 2 yrs even though I am not driving a BMW........ ;)

Cheers!

Cheers Welbo/Champ..

Is ok to use a soft brush (eg. shoe brush) to clean the canvas?
Might afriad that it will damage the canvas making it hairy as time goes by..

I think no matter what you do, the elements will turn your canvas hairy...

Shoe brushes are hard. The softest one I could find was the Kiwi one.
