Cars & Coffee

Guys, have you all seen the events that are held out of the States that are titled "Cars and Coffee"? Usually involves a gathering from around the region of all car enthusiasts and covers every walk of interesting car.

To invite the Classic Car Club of Singapore, Aston, Audi and Volkswagen forum, Lotus, Mini, WRX, Evo, Lambo, Aston, Honda Civic Type R, Ferrari, Porsche etc etc. Would be great to cross borders with these other owners and would probably open our eyes to what other car enthusiasts get up to.

The thought actually popped up also after reading about a run in between a Mitsubishi Evo and a couple of the Civic guys (of which I know a few of both). If everyone were to meet up face to face, the likelihood of such incidences would probably be reduced as we all begin to acknowledge one another as car enthusiasts rather than just nameless, faceless individuals that drive performance cars and try to engage in mindless road racing.

Check out this website as an example, or do a search on Cars and Coffee on the net and facebook....

Cars and Coffee™ Irvine

Thoughts?

I for one would love to attend such an event at a place like Big Splash where there are sufficient eateries and lots of nice parking to walk around and view all the cars that turn up. Would be a great networking and social opportunity as well.

yeah... think the idea would be to not just have cars of a certain criteria or determined to be exotic... anyone with an interest in cars.... would just be really interesting to see owners of cars throwing their passion into a machine even if its a Suzuki Swift or 20 year old BMW 3 series for example. I for one love meeting guys like that at track days or garages and feel a big group gathering of various clubs would be really interesting.

Re: Cars & Coffee

sounds goooood...

cheers

Re: Cars & Coffee

We could always start off with a few guys first. 1st degree of friends. Like your friends and my friends and if it works out well we can always go towards 2nd degree of friends.

Worst case scenario that if it becomes some illegal street racing event then we move back towards our own clique where its just the few of us eradicating unknown street racers. Besides I think there are very decent guys here who have various marques in their stables who would love to meetup and have a cuppa for the sake of appreciating cars.

What day this week would you like?

i'd have to agree with them on multiple points, even in one of the current issues of Performance BMW, one of the contributors spoke out against what he called a "class divide" during one of the mega BMW meets. Where a small percentage of participants had the "my car is newer and more expensive and thus better then yours" attitude which spoils the fun for some of the ppl.

It shouldn't be just about the cars but the ppl. It was a thought i had with a friend of mine too regarding such megameets. In the end we concluded, it had to start from a grassroots level among friends, and it shouldn't be about making $$$$$ through sponsorships or whatever...

Kind of like the Daikoku meetups in Japan. (minus the wangan races)

here's some Speedhunters coverage on Cars & Coffee :)
http://speedhunters.com/search.aspx?q=cars++coffee

It'll be cool if the Big Splash owners could get in on this too. i wouldn't mind a saturday morning cars/coffee.

There will be some who will love to test their cars with others and take every opportunity to do so.

This is so true of the Kallang meets...

Re: Cars & Coffee

i think Big splash is a nice location to do it... will weed out those "carpark drag racers" cos no space to race... and hopefully keeps out TP cos its prvt. carpark
