Hi bros,
After car mod, will it affect our car re-sale value? (Body kits, ehxaust system ......etc)

Re: Car value

no. unless you are selling to another buyer, who appreciates your mods.

most sellers will de mod everything to the ah beng dealer, no pt giving them anything cos they dun give you extra value - but they do add extra cost to potential buyers.

Hi atason,

value wont drop unless you transform it to look like any other make or have a colour change.............................
re-sale value also very subjective as if you takes care of the car very very well, i am sure it will fetch a better price even though it is fully stock or if it is heavily and nicely modded. ( with bbk, SB, wrong off-set rims, bodykit, etc etc..........) but end of the day, just got to find the right buyer who can appreciate your ride!!!

cheers

Re: Car value

to seller .... mod is useless, worthless and say difficult to sell car as not many want to buy modded car .... poor image

to buyer ... +10k worth of mod ... best buy ... get key and drive away and no need to spend time to find mods .... mod is the best, MTL ....

see people talk human ... see ghost talk ghost

standard

Re: Car value

Depends on individuals, if I am in the market for a 2nd hand car, I will not want a modded car. 100% stock ftw.

Agreed, the mods is worth nothing if you sell to the dealer ... as a matter of fact, they will tell you that it would be more difficult to sell. They will probably tell you to de-mod

However, if can meet a direct buyer that appreciate the mods, then there will be some value.

Since my first humble Jap ride that I spent money to mod and I learnt that there is no value when you sell the car. I have never mod my car since. I would upgrade rims, upgrade the ICE but nothing else.

Re: Car value

So mod or dont mod?? If i mod no room to keep the old staffs.
But anyway thanks for all the advices bros.

Re: Car value

It doesn't make sense to modify here and there and in the end you're selling it within a short time frame. It defeats the purpose.

Just like when you buy a house and paint it black because it's your favourite color, you don't expect your potential buyers to like a house with black walls. ;-)

If I'm a potential buyer, I will not want a modified car because I can't be sure of the underlying problems.

Re: Car value

Depends on what mods is done...if u mod it like Ah Bengs (not our AB driver here) not many can appreciate it but if you mod your car to improve the brakes (like installing a good BBK) or better rims and tires or better suspension then many will be willing to pay extra for your car provided the mileage is decent.

Well if you dont know what to do with your mods, pls pass all of them to me...

Re: Car value

Agree with the sentiments above. I was in the market for a used BMW recently and preferred cars that are stock - but things like sports rims and better tyres are more like upgrades than mods. With mods, like engine, intake and exhaust mods, buyer is less sure of the condition of the car, or may suspect that the car was heavily used and abused before being let go.
