Car Park Trap !!!

Arhhhhh :furious:

Just got my right front bumper (under) badly scratched while trying to get out of Clifford Centre car park.

The F**king car park is so narrow ! It was too late for me to reverse so I went up the MSCP. The going up was very tight but I managed to steer thru, but the exit is impossible. You need to circle down and the 2-way traffic is so narrow and divided by a not so low cement divider. It is almost impossible to judge the cement divider and I kena on the 1st bend.

The front bumper is slightly deformed and badly scratched on the underside.

:verysad:

Heartache.

I need recommendation on where to get it re-spray and fixed ASAP, before CNY.

May be we should compile a list of Car Park Trap so that follwer BMWer can avoid.

The usual workshops found in our workshop page!

Good luck with your repairs! :wavey:

whaaaaaaaaa... that's really painful to hear.. but anyways.. you'll get it fixed b4 cny..

Re: Car Park Trap !!!

Can sympathise with you. My office is located at Clifford Centre, but I chose to park across at Overseas Union House (Neptune) for obvious reasons. This Clifford carpark is the worse amongst all with respect to width and curbs. A place to avoid.

You could try OUH or Hitachi Tower/Caltex House the next time.

Cost of a new bumper !

Called Mike today to get a verbal quote. I was shocked to hear that if the bumper need to be replaced it will cost close to $1000. He said that as bumper are not metal, it may not be able to "bend" it back into the original shape.

Ah Boon on the other hand said bumper with workmanship is about $500. a very big different, I wonder why ???

See a lot of good comment on Mike's work but his quote is 100% higher than Ah Boon.

Has anyone got any experience with Ah Boon ? Trust worthy and good workmanship ?

So sad. :verysad:

I already book Zaino before this mishap. If I don't get the bumper fixed it defeat the purpose of grooming.

:(

BTW tomorrow I am meeting another customer at Republic Plaza. Can park in this car park or not huh ? Golden shoe car park better ?

Republic Plaza's carpark is ok.

Rgds,

Spidy25,

I suggest that you head down to both Mike and Ah Boon to get a visual check. They may not completely understand the serverity of the damage incurred. Boon may have a different opinion after seeing your bumper...so..

From what i understand, Mike quoted you a "new" bumper WITH paint.

Boon quoted you bumper(is this new ..or 2nd hand?) with workmanship (paint or a putty/spray job?).

Anyway, i do hope it's NOT that bad. Good luck!

I guess some carparks are worth avoiding...This is a good thread to keep. Some Hdb carparks have massive humps that scratch your undercarriage even if your car is not fully loaded ( for lowered springs)...

Spidy, I hope it wont be too expensive of a repair for you...

Spidy25,

The list was compiled quite a while ago. Pretty long list, I must say. Run a search..and when you do find it, print it and keep it handy. It could help you to prevent such things from happening again!

Bro, as Ryan mentioned, u need a visual quote and not an oral one. Also, even if u need to change bumper, there may be second hand ones lying around in the shops coz there are people who switched to M5 bumpers and juz dump the original bumpers at the workshops. So be very careful to find out also whether u are getting new or used bumper coz the worst case would be to get old bumper at new bumper price. Gd luck.
