What is the dynamic drive...you mean active steering?

My friend's E60 530i is registered in Malaysia...it has active steering. I discovered when I tried to be naughty with it. :laughlik:

Dynamic drive is active anti roll system that keeps the car from leaning or experiencing roll during high speed cornering.

Zag,

Curious but what makes you think that the first batch cars comes with dynamic drive? And why would PML not be honest about it.

Unless of course they dont want to make the second batch car owners feel bad

Or worse still half of the first batch cars have it.... :screwedu:

what i heard was that the first batch was wrongly configured by factory vs. work order, DD was included while PML did not specify it and I think PML is not paying for it. Per delivery spec the price does not include DD (a S$9K option).
Actually it is difficult to tell from the suspension set up, but i felt the car doesn't roll much at high speed cornering. One chap told me that his friend's 530i which was a first batch confirmed had DD.
Running the VIN on the PML service record database would indicate presence of Dynamic Drive.

BMWorld... are you around? can you check yours?

I gather that you are the proud owner of a first batch 530 then. Wah! Really 'tan tiok' man.....I would imagine that DD would make a huge difference to how the car handles.

And if running the VIN No indicates the presence of DD, you can almost certainly assume that DD is fitted.

I was told by my PML SE that they have raised the price of the Dynamic Drive option to over $10k (due to the strong Euro). Anybody know if this is true?
I paid $9,036 for it when I ordered my car in Jan.

Holy Crap! You have a 6 spd manual E60? That must be an absolute blast to drive. Kudos to you to have the guts to buy a 5 series manual.

Actually, if the first batch cars have 'hidden' DD, the those chaps who bought the PML demonstrator 530s would have benefited. No?

I had a e39 528i before this and I found the Steptronic transmission somewhat lacking. I have never liked driving autos.
I still only have 500kms on the clock, so I haven't exceeded 4,000rpms yet. The car is so quiet that I don't really get any feeling of speed at these low engine speeds.
My wife's 325i Cab feels a lot faster, especially with the top down. It too has a manual transimission.
What can I say? I have a family that likes manual transmission cars!

Ahh..IC. Thanks for the clarification.

ok those who have doubts whether you have DD or not, pls gather at south buena vista road tonight, I shall check for you whether you have DD or AS installed, and whether your DSC + ASC + CBC is working or not.

So yours is the only 530i manual in Singapore !! My friend's MY registered one is also manual...he was telling me that his agent told him that SG also got 1 unit....so you are the one.

I was wondering who would buy a manual 5 series.....that would make your ride rarer than the Zonda !!

Yeah, at one tenth the price of the Zonda's $2.4 mil!

Well...at least you have a proper boot....4 door....

Seriously....2.4M is like crazy man....I rather get a damn nice 4 room condo or a small landed property rather than 2 seats and 4 tyres.

Owner must be got money dunno how to spend kinda cat. But again....should we ever reach that kinda level...we might just be spending what people view as obsence money.

Read the guy who book resturants on a 5km radius in Portugal cos his wife cannot decide where to eat ??

Probably that bloke already has several landed properties and lots of 4 door cars and a private jet as well. So what's next? :)

Yeah that's exactly what I did on the very first day I got my car. It was 1am in the morning, got the tyres screeching on SBV road, huge grin on my face and have been similing ever since :)

ARS (active roll stabalization) also known as Dynamic Drive is just the single most awesome option you can get on your E60 period!

wah.. you guys are getting me very jeaaaloouss.. I actually love the new 5. Fell in love ever since I test drove the 530 during the launch. Sigh.... but a bit "oldish" for me lah... hahaha

But now got the full AC make-over plus type IV rims..Chio!!!

It is a wonderful car. With the E60, I sometimes wonder why people even bother with buying anything else!?!?

I saw the E60 520i with the ACS kit at PML on Saturday pm. I was horrified to see huge spacers (38 and 42mm iirc) on the front and rear 19" Type 4 wheels. I guess they put E46 wheels on the E60.
The ACS iDrive knob also was missing, despite the car being locked.
According to my SE, they have sold 7 or 8 ACS kits to E60 owners at the launch price of $20k. Pretty successful launch I suppose. To each his own.
I am waiting for the M Sport Package spoilers myself, but I bet they will be horrendously expensive when it finally gets here.
