Buying E36

awded

Hi guys. I'm new to this club and hope some "lao jiao" will give me some advice. Love BMW but can't afford the newer ones. So thinking of getting the E36. Is it adviceable? Thanks a lot of any advice given.

Heard from friends that BMWs maintence very high. Is that true? And in what sense?

Are the parts really that expensive?

What are the things I should look out for when shopping for a coe Bimmer?

Should I look for 318 or 320?

I'm 26 this year. How much will the insurance cost? (I have 30% NCB)

Average fuel consumption for 318 and 320?

Any other additional info are welcome. Once again, thanks alot.

Re: Buying E36

I bought an old E30 long ago and when its time to scrap, despite testing several new cars.. I settle for an E36 (which plus the COE I paid later) for about the same amount of a Corrolla back then $70K +. Never regreted it for a moment.

Not much car handles like a bimmer and it becomes harder to change car once you get use to it. I knew a friend who has already bought his 3rd E36.. you get the picture.

High maintenance.. who told you so?.. Get a good workshop that knows BMW and you save quite a bit. I stuck to my old workshop when I got my E30, well, it get worst by the day and almost convince me that bimmers are lemon. After switching workshop, it gets better and break downs lessen to zero for the last year I drove her. Now my E36 is running fine and the maintenance is really manageable.

What is not manageable about BMW is the Mod Virus.... it does not infect your ECU.. it infect YOU. You mod and mod till you screw up the car.. then de-mod it and start all over again.. kekekeekek... this I really love.

Good luck on your hunt and hope you fine a gem like mine..
