Brakes & Rims compatibility

Hi All,

I am new here.

I have an E92 and thinking of upgrading the brakes.

Thinking of using the 135 brake kit which is cheaper or Brembo

Will this rim be able to fit or clear the brakes?

Benny, two comments:

(1) How much is the BMW brake kit if you buy from PML? This is to calculate the actual savings against after-market brands BBK.

(2) This is an 18" rim. You will have to change to 19" if you upgrade your brakes in future - due to bhp/torque improvements from piggybacking. Dun fix your options so early.

And dun say never when it comes to modding. I have heard too many forumers saying "I wun mod lah" and subsequently succumb to the mod virus.

Is this 193 cast or forged?

it's cast rim
seen the same one on my neighbour's, looks like plenty of clearance for big caliper

Arh? so can put BBK or cannot?

Does it mean that BBK can only fit 19" rims or is it cos 19" just handles better with the upcoming mods? Haha.

Maybe I will mod for performance.... maybe not. But the BBK is most tempting now cos the current brakes look so cheapo!

Just thinking that if I spend so much on modding..... might as well trade in for GTR.

Your bbk is refering to 4 pot caliper ? Cause 6-pot BBK cannot fit my 18"s stock 189s..........

Oh crap. There goes my beautiful rims.

Yeh JFC said that 6 pots a must for front. 4 for back. That's the only option.

it is not bout how many pots can clear the rims
it is the size of the rotors
for 18in some rims can clear a max of 380mm some cannot

For your guide, rotor size up to 365mm is pretty safe with 18in rims

If u ask me
6 front 355m rotors, 4p rear same size or slightly smaller are perfect
no need to go 380mm

I got a quote from Lay Auto already.

But not a GB quote. S$265k with S$81k OMV. Black Edition but with BOSE sound system. So it is like semi Premium Edition. Their cars will be serviced by ST Power.

Yep. Example - Brembo has 355 mm and 380 mm rotors.

18 inch rims can fit many big brake setup already. even 17 inch can put up to 320/330mm rotors. whats important is the offset of the rims. certain brands such as ap racing and wilwood have slimmer calipers which can fit alot of stock rims. while brembo, alcon require rims with much wider offset. mind you modding to aftermarket brakes may not result in shorter stopping distance. brake bias and other factors are important too. if you are not tracking, there may not be any need to big brake setup. rather take the money and spend on really good tires as thats what is going to stop the car.

I am on 189 rims BUT with Brembo BBK ( 6F/4R) leh, was able to fit without any problem so far.

I dont think any spacer was used, Yep it's gt. BVO did the job sui sui.

Alamak......seems like you can't get over the GTR although you've just gotten your E92. Someone must be quietly feeding you GTR poison..... Ha ha ha....

Ha, what you mean by SWAP? Exchange for weekend or what?

My business partner GTR poison very strong loh. He bought one.
