Brakes not working when car stalls

Hi,

my car brakes didnt work when the car stalls at a slope and my car rolls down... a E36M
is this normal and I have just have to be more careful? :thinking:

brakes were weak or completely no effect? coz the brakes are power assisted. with the engine dying on u there is no power feeding to the brakes i believe, making it much less effective. experienced this when I had a faulty battery. brakes were sucky and spongy.

Not sure if I had step on the brakes all the way in at that time, so not very sure it was weak or completely no effect, lucky no cars behind. I will go to a slope to test it out again and to make sure if the handbrake is working properly to stop the car at that steep slope.

is normal. just pull handbrake. or whack the brake hard..

The brake booster relies on engine vacuum to function.

Can you tell me more about brake booster and how it helps braking in the event of engine stall?
