Re: BMWsg Trackday Video 14th Aug 2009
Dont know this will helps or not, but am posting anyway, .....for easy ref...
1. MUST Bring your helmets. Helmet is compulsory. Any type is ok.
2. Wear driving shoes (e.g. Adidas, Nike, Puma etc racing shoes, sneakers or whatever is easier to drive in). No open toe shoes or slippers or sandals - these are STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED for participants or co-driver etc. Those bringing girlfriends, wife or mistresses...pls take note yah...its for your own safety.
3. Bring a big bag to put all your loose stuff (i.e. "easy to move" items, for example CDs, umbrella, water bottle, perfume etc) from the car, so that they won't be flying around in the car when you are tracking!
4. Wear something light and cool as it will be hot! Don't wear too sexy as it might distract the drivers.....well on second thoughts, can also lah...
5. Bring your own bottled drinking water.
6. Tyres are in good shape and enough air. Might have to pump more air, i.e inflate higher than normal, say around 34-36psi (for those with 17" wheels). A correct tyre pressure means your tyres will perform better and will have less wear.
7. Check wheels alignment/balancing BEFORE & AFTER track.
8. Make sure brake pads are enough for the tracking session. Check the brake fluid too.
9. Make sure NO oil leaks and car in good condition for tracking. Check Coolant level & Engine Oil too.
10. Make sure Petrol is enough, Full Tank should be good.
11. Never never leave your limbs hanging out of the car...and you should never open more than half a window (if possible)!! this is to prevent your arms or your head getting thrown out if you get into an accident. Worse if the car flips over!! should make it a habit, even on the street...
12. One common "bad" habit of drivers is hand position on steering wheel - it is supposed to be 9-3, not 11-1 or 8-5. By practising that, steering movement is more control & smooth, otherwise the hands would be all over the place in a nasty situation when one needs to correct the steering.
13. Equally important is the seating position, don't drive in a gorilla posture, again your reaction time will be slower if you do!
14. Follow the NO overtaking rules while on track (if applicable).
15. No back passengers are allowed (if applicable).
16. Observe the racing flags especially Red Flags. Its for your safety n others on track. Your car could be asked to return to pit for ignoring red flags. SIC is very strict on rules, where they can see everything from the control room. So, don't play play yah! View the flags here:

17. Please ensure that all caps are tightly fasten like engine oil cap, Radiator reservoir cap. For those without carpet locks might want to remove your carpet (Driver) as a safety precaution. This is to prevent the carpet jamming your accelerator or brakes especially those who intend to push harder.
18. IF you are newbie, pls be careful when practising "heel n toe" on track. Too many things going on at high speed. U may lose traction or be too late for braking. Best is to practise during normal driving. Every time chg gear, just heel n toe a bit.
19. Observing rules all the time plus signs in the pit areas, smoking is NOT allowed at any time in the pits.
For info:
South Track is the opposite half of the track which includes the back straight, the front straight is part of the North Track.
South Track: straight, right, right, left (uphill), right (Curve), right, left (downhill), right, right (on the brakes), straight.
North Track: straight, right, left (downhill), right, right, left, right, right, right, straight.
