Bmw Performance Power Kit For Bi-Turbo Engines (135/335)

Any comments on the upcoming BMW Power kits for the 135 and 335?

Should be safe presumably as the ECU tweaks (for power and torque from 225kW to 240kW and 400Nm to 450Nm respectively) comes with an additional radiator and an 850 watt fan.

Here's an exerpt from the BMW Performance brochure. Understand this will be a legal mod from PML/BMW AG (?) in Singapore.

The auto seems to develop more torque and a little bit more power earlier on (but same max) than the manual.

Anyone got any more info on this or read any reviews?

Anyone...?

The question on FI engine is never the hardwares, but who's the tuner?

Of coz, if it is from the AD, then it is legal and approved
same as AC stuff in general

This power kit only adds 15kw of pw....hmm, so litte for the price..

Re: Bmw Performance Power Kit For Bi-Turbo Engines (135/335)

My understanding is that BMW Asia actually told PML to stop the AC thing...
Anyway this Power Kit doesnt look that great on the charts... is it worth for that money?

Re: Bmw Performance Power Kit For Bi-Turbo Engines (135/335)

aiya like all tunable FI cars...what stage of tune do you want? you can go to xtremes n build a 1000hp evo or u can be happy with a chip upgrade to 350hp. same for the pariah cars....some people do not need that much...and some want peace of mind from AD etc.

so they r happy to pay 20k (kekeke suckers) for 15kw more....add a factory tested ECU, bigger radiator fan etc...n still under Wty....

How muchie?

Re: Bmw Performance Power Kit For Bi-Turbo Engines (135/335)

Dunno... but aint looking cheap with that extra radiator, fan and remap...

Re: Bmw Performance Power Kit For Bi-Turbo Engines (135/335)

for road driving, it's definitely not worth the money if one has to pay for the 15kw upgrade to include the hardwares...

might as well just get a JB with the lowest map and it runs reliably for daily driving

For track use, any damn upgrades also can't work to satisfy..Dom says one..

Re: Bmw Performance Power Kit For Bi-Turbo Engines (135/335)

I dont need this tune. Just be happy and drive stock or detuned can liao. Economy is bad, so save on fuel. drive slow.

Re: Bmw Performance Power Kit For Bi-Turbo Engines (135/335)

For the N54 block, the best mods, besides the chip, is free-flowing exhaust and FMIC. I am not sure how PML can incorporate these into the Kit, given its warranty constraints and legal issues. So it will probably err on the conservative side.

Then the question will become - how much for that 50 NM of torque? Worth it?

Still waiting to get a price quote.

Curious to know how critical it is to have that extra radiator and fan for what is considered a "little bit more" power.

Does that mean that you run much risk to your engine if you boost it by much more than 15 kW (what is this in horse power)?

Heat is still the main constraint in our engine, if you are running higher boost. As for upper threshold, most of the US guys (even in the heat zones) have done the research for us. 400 to 420 bhp on 600 NM and above across low RPM band is achievable and safe, over the last 2 to 3 years. Many local 335 bros are running those numbers.

Thanks for the knowledge Ken.

Numbers look very nice! What's the pricing? Just ECU reprogramming right?
