BMW Eye Eight or Porker Nine Eleven?

If any of you were in the market for a new sports (sporty) car and were to:

a. Tio Toto to the tune of $600,000
b. Stumble upon $600,000 worth of $1,000 bills left behind in a bag on an MRT seat
c. Pick up $600,000 worth of $10,000 bills left behind in a Comfort Delgro cab
d. Manage to pull of what the 2 idiots couldn't with regards to Sheng Siong owner's mother
e. Suddenly find yourself inheriting $600,000 from your late uncle's neighbour's second wife's son's tuition teacher

Would you then go to pick up the BMW i8 or a Porsche 911S with your windfall?

And, please, before anyone congratulates me on my new car, I didn't manage to hit any of the letters a to e above, sadly.

Thank you for your valued opinions, flame baits and insults in advance. And no, I don't have anything to sell.

From your stable of cars, you still want to buy another BMW?. Also, you only lack a sports car now in your stable and 911S will fit that bill better IMHO. I think i8 is a good first effort but maybe wait for i8s or whatever the better version that is coming.

Acherly, I also thinking i8S is better wait. I've regretted jumping straight into the 6er when it came out, otherwise, I'd be driving the M6 now and wouldn't be having this discussion about a sports car *sigh*.

Not that I'm buying anything, OK

(wifey reads the forums sometimes)....

How come my "like" icon missing! Yeah, let them iron out the i8 bugs first.

Re: BMW Eye Eight or Porker Nine Eleven?

i8 all plus points -

i8 is the best when comes to stealth mode .... go out / come back home no one will hear .....

i8 ... instead of asking about FC ... will ask if it will increase PUB bill. But if no one see can quickly go hdb top deck and use the power socket there with the bs546 adaptor ... problem solve.

Just make sure please use original charging cable. Chiong cable may melt the connector.

OT - Is i8 tuning mod is a bigger battery ?

i8 FTW ....

Re: BMW Eye Eight or Porker Nine Eleven?

i8 more unique but you already have 2 bimmers. Either a porky or an italian exotic for a sports car. Bmw regardless of model have very similiar driving feel n interior. I vote porky. If budget no issue then an italian exotic.

Re: BMW Eye Eight or Porker Nine Eleven?

If I were to change my 6er coupe, I would like to change to the 911.

However, when I bought the 6er coupe, I initially thought that we would use the 5 series for all family trips and the 6er coupe for me to drive to work. Strangely enough, the kiddies much prefer to go out in the 6er coupe than the regular school run 5er.

So my dilemma, the 6er coupe's back seat, while tight, still accommodates my family. The 911 back seat is way more tiny and is unusable for my family as my son is now taller than me. As my wife is also taller than me, it would mean that if we went out as a family, I would have to seat in the back seat while my wife drove and my son seats in the front seat. Urgghh!

Looks like I'm stuck with the 6er coupe for now. I tried my friend's Maserati GT but couldn't help feeling that the tech was very outdated.

So if you don't need to transport anyone in the back seat, then the 911 would be the ideal choice.......or would it? Cause if you don't need the back seat, the cayman is actually the better driver's car! Choices.....choices.....

Have you considered the Maser Ghibli? I know its the same category as the 5er and an entry level maser but its alot sleeker and tech is newer as compared to the GT. Driving feel is pretty good as well. The exhuast note even for its V6 is pretty amazing as well. But tech is still lower as compared to the 5er. I would very much prefer a Maser Ghibli over Porsche at this moment of time.

How can I be dangerous, since we are only talking HYPOTHETICALLY about you changing cars. ;)

Disclaimer: If any wifeys(including mine) are reading this thread. We are only having an intellectual exercise here. No one is changing cars.

The Ghibli is a gorgeous 4 door sedan but I already have a 5er,so IF I were to replace my car, I don't want another 4 door sedan.

I love a coupe as it seems to really incite green eye rage......people love to pass disparaging remarks about my 1)manhood or lack thereof 2)midlife crisis 3)occupation...must be a pimp/playboy or something etc. Women, on the other hand, seem to love coupes and have come up to compliment me on its looks. Maybe that is why their husbands need to pass remarks to feel better about themselves......

Re: BMW Eye Eight or Porker Nine Eleven?

911 more practical but since u oredi hv 99 cars at home then I8 la.

Re: BMW Eye Eight or Porker Nine Eleven?

911 over i8 anyday. Maybe just me that think i8 looked good when first saw it but then fades away; kind of of in vogue for a while but 911 looks and performance just holds up after all these years.
