BMW 6 series from PML

Re: BMW 6 series from PML

I still believe the 630i is more than sufficient for our roads and maybe properly modded, also for some track use...
its not tht slow off the mark anyway...compared to the 645i... only like 1 sec off....and being better balanced...it could turn in to a corner better than the 645i....
and S,pore roads are more twisty than straights...so u are not really losing out la...only the exhaust sound of the V8....damn sweet la...

Bro, I think you really should save the $40K plus and slowly mod the 630i up to par lor....6.5sec for 0~100 is alredy not bad liao le....

Cheers

Re: BMW 6 series from PML

In this case, do u all think its a good time to buy a second hand 645 or 630? whats a fair price to pay?

Re: BMW 6 series from PML

once upon a time at the light.... a 645ci pulled away and i felt like driving backwards..... depressed after that not wanting another 3 liter in line for my next car. i am sure it will feel the same in the 6. 1 sec is alot of fume to be smelling at the back.
there is a lot of used 645i with low mileage on the clock to be of real bargain... go with your heart which you already decided. power is never enough even on sg roads within 100kph limits...

cheers

Re: BMW 6 series from PML

I'd get a used 645 if I were in the mkt for one. There should be some decent offers out there.

Re: BMW 6 series from PML

nutty... its like saying the 318 is more than sufficient compared to a 330 ( or for that fact a 650 compared to a M6)... which its a totally different comparision isnt it... PLS!!! n its not tat the people who drives a 330 or M6 instead of the latters r rich power hungry showoffs... its just that they seek that refinement / feel / driving experience /power n of course it comes at a hefty Cost.

n in the world of motoring... ONE WHOLE sec is a LOT of different... (that 1 sec diff equates to abt 5car lengths!! thus the term smell smoke!!) n even with money u might not even b able imitate/replicate that difference... especially when u compare a 6 to a V8. there's so so many technical differences that i'm sure it'll seperate distinctively between the 2 cars! the extra weight equates to a little more understeer... (n pls... a 630 doesnt turn better than a 645... n wait till they both meet at the tracks) n i'm pretty sure the BMW techs have done some extra tuning n mods (than found on a 630) to minimise that oredi... n making the beast a little more 'fun' to drive... hard!!

whatever it is... a 6 is still s 6 (whichever model)... one of the best made GT on the roads anywhere...

U smoked me by 2 seconds last time when I was in my Tucson.......that aint far.
I want a rematch.

Basically there are two types of people who drive...
1. Those who see a car as nothing but just a means of transportation
2. Those who want more than just no.1 ...so looking for driver feel n involvement, performance n handling.

I completely disagree with the notion that our country is too small to drive big cc/ fast cars. It's just wrong. And since we can't really have the best of both worlds that is why car enthusiasts end up buying expensive cars...seriously expensive ones. ...In fact, the sales numbers are higher than ever...So, if money is not a problem and the driver is type No.2..........then Just Do It.

Re: BMW 6 series from PML

thanks for the advice.

guess the bank is making the decision for me.

just been cleared of a bank loan of 220K.... sigh. cannot take full loan (90%)

Re: BMW 6 series from PML

Buy the most powerful variant you can afford...because power will never be enough.

Trouble with power is that after a while you get used to it and you start thinking of ways to get more :)

If you can afford the 645, get the 645. Don't save 40k and then regret later.

But pls remember to buy within your limits. Buying a car is easy...but maintaining it is not :D

That means you're getting the 630i no?

Re: BMW 6 series from PML

I went for the 6 for it's look. More power of course better but it also mean more money, monthly installments, road tax, fuel etc

Even if you have 645, there'll be another car which is faster. One mountain is higher than the other (yi san hai u yi san kao) TP is the FASTEST :(

And 645 will not get you more chabor than a 630

Been 9 months now and no complain, so far ...

Re: BMW 6 series from PML

Wah.. so Cheap ah... 650 price can but a posh. I am confused. Which one to buy ?

i went to PML showroom for a look.

there are 630, 645 and 650. (650 is replacing 645)

645 is going at a good discount of $40k.

630 - 265k
645 - 305k
650 - 338k

just wondering if it is better to get a 630 than a 645? (630 has NAVI and keyless)

I can't agree more with Discom.

Had the opportunity to drive the Maxima (called the Cefiro 3.5JM here) last week. Great leap in power considering my car is a 318. I went from 0-160km/hr effortlessly, made me very happy! But then after a while, I just got used to the power lor, and wished I had a little more....

Then again, buy within ur limits. Personally, i would choose not to be too highly geared, in anticipation of the day I tell my boss "I QUIT"!! Then no need to worry abt servicing car loans or force sell the car at an unimaginable loss. :lol2:

haha i see that you are already getting used to have too much power. overboosted...

if you like power, 650i and nothing less! If you like 6-er and isn't power hungry, 630i is more than enough.
