Hi all,

i'm looking to get a E60 525i and i understand from the sales person at performance that the facelifted model will be available in jun/jul. for me, i don't need the additional features of the new model and i'm perfectly fine with what the old model offers. ok, the question is this, do you guys/gals think performance motor will lower the selling price of the old models in order to clear them in time for the launch of the new ones?

i was quoted 191.5k for the 525i before any hard negotiations.

Many thanks and Happy Lunar New Year to all!!!

Re: BMW 525i

If you are happy with the features found in the current 525 and have a yearning want to change cars, then yes, go for it... the price is quite attractive....

However, if you are considering a 525 over a 523, the LCI 525 has a 3.0l powerplant.... there is no difference in bhp but there is an increase of 20Nm of Torque.... It is supposed to be up to 25% more fuel economy than the current model.....

The current vs the LCI 5 series (bar the engine range) really has aesthetic changes rather than any significant changes. However, if resale is an issue, then I suggest you wait.... then again, it is always advisable not to purchase the first couple of batches due to teething problems.... So you'd be looking at the Dec 07 batch before purchasing.....

But its your call..... do you need the car, like, now?

3.0L for the 525I LCI i dont think so for singapore. Maybe in the US. They have being using 3L engine block for their E90 325i since the beginning. In Europe and singapore, we use the 2.5L block.
In singapore u pay 3L road tax? No HP gain. Torque up by 20NM only. I doubt lah

Re: BMW 525i

probably not clear stock pricing but mayb more like clear stock accessories/ options added on...think of E46 in 05 and you'll know what i mean

Why is the facelifted 5 series called LCI?

Thanks

That is the current range but I understand from some literature that I've read that the new 525 will be a 3.0L engine block... If you use this logic about paying 3 litre road tax, then what about the people buying the 523, ain't they paying the same road tax as the 525s?

Re: BMW 525i

Thanks guys, for the advice. Definitely i don't need a 525 now, but you know what most guys are like, 'don't mind having one, even though it's not necessary'. but i think i will just wait for a couple of months more to see if the price will come off a bit then decide. but like one of the bros said, too risky to buy brand new models, so either i buy the current 525 or wait til year end to buy the new models. i can live with my current 320 now, more than served its purpose;

Thanks again for the advice!!!
