Re: Biggest size rim for E36 - 316

There is possible size and ideal size. Possible is 20" and the WOW factor is really something. Ideal size will have to take into consideration the power cum driveability, comfort, budget and generally personal preferences. There are quite a number of E36 shod in 17" which probably is reckoned to be a good balance between look and useability. 16" ain't too bad for a 1.6 as it doesn't tax too much of your power as well as great in the fuel economy. So if you upsize, it will likely that you may end up a tinny bit slower and less km for your tank. Tyres would also coz extra. Try to go for like weight rims when upsizing so as to compensate the negative impact.

Hi JAWZSG

If upsize, is it necessary to modify wheel arch? Tks.

max seems to be 18" without a fendr roll. rears are not a prob with clearance , but full lock turns may result in you thinning ur front wheel-well liners, if ur offset is not spot on...

Well, its definitely good to consider rolling your fender as suggested by gwumpkus, but seriously, the max I would consider is 18" due to my tiny engine. Anyway, here's an E36 with 20" bling bling rims.
