I wanted to wirelessly stream music from my phone to my HU, and since there is no built-in bluetooth in my '06 e90 HU, the solution was to look for a bluetooth unit that can plug in via the aux input in the central console.
there are several solution available after some research, cheapest is from dealextreme, for example this and this but they are not really tailored to be used in the car. For example some of these cheap bluetooth devices cannot be charged and used at the same time.
Finally narrow down to these two devices, the belkin aircast auto and the griffin bluetrip. griffin bluetrip is very small and compact with a short wire that plugs into the aux port, perfect for the e90 central console config. but the belkin offers a built-in usb port which makes life alot easier for the garmin/iphone/nokia - made the plunge for the belkin today.
Not as small as the griffin but still very compact. Set my HU to aux-in, plugged the belkin and not before long, my nokia discovered the belkin and was connected soon after. Im not an audiophile but the quality is similar to my MP3-discs to my ears. Works as advertised and everything hidden in the central console with the nokia sitting in my pocket. I'm a happy man
