Hi Bros,

Anyway to check if my battery is about to go dead? I have to crank up twice today, it is a sign of weak battery

My ride is 3 years old

Cheers

same here..sum times twice..sumtimes once..sumtimes numerous times..

Sounds like its about time - batteries typically konk out around the 3 - year mark.

My previous ride's batt died after exactly 3 years 3 months.

The measure of a battery's capacity can be done with a load meter. This meter is available at battery shops and it tells you the voltage of the battery when it is loaded at 80amps or so. Use the green marking on the gauge as a guide. Needing to crank 2-3 times is a sign that your plugs are starting to foul up. :(

When police wear short pants that time, people usually try to hear the cranking sound of the starter motor turning the engine over. Usually can hear a couple or cycles before engine catches. :screwedu:

More scientific is to use load meter....... :)

If you got voltmeter at home also can. Get a partner to monitor the voltage of the battery when you crank the engine. Use the jump start point as the positive and any chassis point as the negative. When you crank, the voltage should not drop below 10.5V......any lower and you will know what to do...... :laughlik:

Haha,

That is a good one. I use the police wear bermudas version and change my battery every 2 years  I guess much also depends on whether one is running powerful ICE etc.

Thanks for all your input, I guess it is time to change the batt. Any idea which is the typical cost of the batt for 318Ie46.

Cheers
