Battery indicator and warning lamps

hi folks

I am driving E90 '06 mileage about 110k

In the user manual, it reads:
lights up in red - battery no longer being charged. Alternator malfunction
lights up in yellow - battery charge level very low. battery aged, or not securely connected

My battery seems to be rather weak when cranking

Does it mean that I do not need to change my battery now?
Just wait till the battery warning lights up?
Any bros faced battery warning indicator lighted up during drive?
or will it just knok out without any warning?

pls share your experiences

thanks

Re: Battery indicator and warning lamps

Use a multi-meter and check the battery voltage. If its above or around 14v - should be ok.

Starters going out have the same symptoms e.g cranking issues and when it goes ... it goes.

if it shows 13.8V to 14.2V while the engine is running, battery is doing fine. when ignition is off, reading should be 12V to 12.6V. if its lower, time to replace
