My autotrans is giving some problems last 2 days.
not able to change to higher gear sometimes & jerky while accelerating.
My ride is e36 & Mileage is ~160K

Anyone can advise which auto trans workshop to go?
Cost?

Sounds like the torque convertor seizing up liao... Get ppl like Juzz4car, M&Q or BVO to take a look.... Address is in the resources page...

I seem to have same problem with my E39. What did you finally do? Any advice? My car is 4 years old and have clocked 135K. I am told to replace the ATF but PML warned that will completely ruin the auto trans. Thanks.

Re: Auto Transmission Problem

John, u chiong too fast to KL last weekend right? :lol2: Just change to manual lah ! :lol2:

Re: Auto Transmission Problem

Maybe raise the trans a little so that it's easier to reach the high gears or maybe source for some high heels....kekekekeke..

Bro Higgins, just go to any of the workshop Piggyboy suggested and have it check before it gets any worse.

Flush your auto transmission and refill with new oil, that will solve your problems. But it will cost your somewhere around $600. That was last time when my dad's e39 did at Khangs Auto Transmission. PML say it will ruin the auto transmission???:lol2: :lol2: Auto transmission oil, it is wise to change the oil every 2yrs. Draining and refilling is cheaper, flushing is very expensive but it's good to do since ur car is 4yrs old already. Good luck kmng2308.

Whatever problems with auto transmission problems, if the auto transmission oil and filter had not been changed before or u have no idea when it was changed. Try and change them 1st and see if there's improvement. If no improvement then ur nightmare begins hehehe.......

Re: Auto Transmission Problem

John, I got MSP Auto Transmission oil (USA), you want ? I sell cheap2 as mine is manual. Bought last time for my previous car.

Hey, bro, I fixed the problem. Kenny at Tropical Success Auto Care not only changed the oil but cleaned out the hydraulic system. Fortunately, the clutch slip was not so bad but if the problem was not arrested in time and the clutch will burn up, then the damage is not reversible. The shift is working normally now, with no jerks while shifting up or down. However, Kenny do not offer any guarantee, but advised that the oil needs to be flushed within the next 20000 KM.

Re: Auto Transmission Problem

i 2nd that suggestion JT... hehehe... nothing beats a stick shift ..if only for durability, and..erm...10% improvement in fuel consumption??..:)
