My autoheadlight on E90 is very sensitive. even in the morning it turned on. anyway to reduce the sensitivity? seems like i am the only one driving with headlight on in the morning.

Re: Auto headlight

cant be help. bmw's light sensor is quite sensitive. just turn the auto mode off is all i can say

Re: Auto headlight

you cant really adjust the autoheadlight, but you can adjust the level of which your xenons are pointing, either high or low, by default from the factory, one will be higher than the other

Re: Auto headlight

actually once you get used to it, you won't even notice it is on. actually its better from a safety aspect.

my headlight is the normal orange light not the xennon type
it doesnt matter, the sensor is actually on ur rear view mirror against the windscreen. it detects light from there regardless of xenon or not

Initially, I had the same feeling as you, being the only one driving with headlights on. You will get used to it, or as suggested, switch off the auto mode.

Cheers!

Re: Auto headlight

do you have idrive? if not I am not sure how else to advice. I tune the sensitivity via a function within idrive.

How to tune sensivity with IDRIVE? I dun seem to find this function leh.

Re: Auto headlight

I asked my CSA previously.

Was told that the sensitivety can be adjusted. However, the reprogramming will take 2 days.

Was going to wait for my service interval to get it done, along with a full check of the car, especially the aircon coil, as recommended by my CSA...

But she left PML! So i am not sure if it can still be done, perhaps you can check it out with your friendly CSA

haha...2 days, standard answer....

Re: Auto headlight

Initially I found it irritating....After driving for about 3 years, I think I prefer to leave it on AUTO.....
I remember my ex-Alfa Romeo (of course no auto light) hit a building pillar while in the dim car park of Suntec. Now, no problem as headlight auto-on.....
Learn to appreciate is more difficult than to hate. But you'll be happier.....

no i-drive. guess have to live with it.

I never used the Auto mode. Manually switch ON/OFF..... I guess this is how you wanna resolve this issue faced.

Btw, i heard (Tia Nang Kong)... Auto mode will reduce your lifespan of your bulbs/relays..... Not sure, just asking.

Re: Auto headlight

Sure u can adjust the sensitivity of the auto headlight.
I have mine done at pml during servicing but it will take u 1 whole day to reprogramme our car.
After which, it dun auto-on in brightly lit places like before. ;)

Mine is Pre-FL E90 without idrive though.

Did u went to kampong Arang branch? If so, they have told me that they can't do it too:biggun:. I've done it in Leng Kee branch.

Re: Auto headlight

I had the same issue everyone is having with the sensitivity. I was determined to "fix it" when I go for the next service. However, after reading some nice comments up there, now I feel like leaving it as it is. More people will notice me, so what.

Re: Auto headlight

Just for anyone looking for updates...

I got my auto headlight sensor adjusted during the service (at Alexandra Road). My service advisor considered it as a "complain" (that headlights turn on during day time) and fixed it under warranty.

:)
