Anyone buy from tirerack.com before?

Anybody have experience buying from tirerack in the US? Their range of tyres and prices look cheap.

Considering this option because some tyre models not readily available in singapore and local tyre shops always seem to underestimate delivery time for special orders...

Interested to hear what the approx shipping cost, delivery time, gst, etc... really just the overall experience and whether buying from them is worth it.

Re: Anyone buy from tirerack.com before?

dude u should get in touch with barry rex7vtec. i understand he's got a direct lobang to tirerack.

Re: Anyone buy from tirerack.com before?

Bought from tirerack f1 asym before it launched in spore. Good service, better to get in contact with the sales person via email. They will send u specs in details. They used fedex, so u would have to pay courier and gst.

Also bought a brembo stock size rear rotor for e46, they give full specs and diagrams as per my request. Quite professional.

Re: Anyone buy from tirerack.com before?

no issues with TireRack, maybe they can go to Singapore one day

Re: Anyone buy from tirerack.com before?

Fedex! Will be damn ex! Go by borderlinx, should be around $100 each 10kg tire.

thanks for the info. what was the delivery time like?

Re: Anyone buy from tirerack.com before?

Cant remember, once they charged to your card, Fedex is very fast, i think a few working days to your destinated address. Fedex will collect GST from you.

Re: Anyone buy from tirerack.com before?

fyi, decided to give tirerack a try for my semi slicks.

got quoted fedex economy (3-5 bus days) at US$220 for shipping!

potentially some large saving on time and dollars vs ordering from local shops.

let's see how this goes....

Re: Anyone buy from tirerack.com before?

so exciting..

can share which semi-slick you getting?

Re: Anyone buy from tirerack.com before?

Kuvesh, is it much cheaper bulk shipping tires? If so, seems better to do that since it seems there are always a bunch of guys looking to buy tires at any one time.

Re: Anyone buy from tirerack.com before?

how much does it cost in sg compared to getting it from tirerack.com + shipping and tax?

Michelin pilot sport cup. Would have prefered to get the bridgestone RE11S but it is only available in Japan at the moment and difficult to source unless you have on the ground contacts.

Not sure if it would be cheaper via tirerack. Appears they only use fedex air for international orders. I hear fedex rates are based on volumetric weight. That said, tirerack did offer an express or economy service - i chose economy because the express was double the price and economy ETA was actually quite fast.

I like group buys but generally dont want to be the one organising the logistics collecting the money etc. Plus this was a test purchase, the results still to be seen... so if something goes wrong, dont have the answer to others.

In my case, at least S$100 per tyre but more importantly there is significant time savings. Most local tyre shops need to indent semi slicks and that means wait times of 1-3 months.

Re: Anyone buy from tirerack.com before?

UPDATE:

tires received yesterday without issue.

delivery time was exactly 5 business days from when i placed the order.

very pleasant experience.

makes you wonder why local tire shops make you wait weeks, if not months, to indent items and still charge premium pricing...

something to consider for your next tire purchase.
