Re: Anyone bought from PI?
I've also been doing my research too, the hifi spec sound system and sunroof total to an additional $5k+ option if you opt for it on PML's units. So if spec both PI and PML's units the same and compare, the diff is approx. $10k. Thats just a 5%-6% difference on a $180k+ car. Not sure whether its enough to win me over.
The 335iA Coupe seemed to be a better deal at first, but after factoring in the iDrive with Navigation and Comfort Access on the PML models, and comparing both versions if spec-ed the same, the diff. turns out to be around $15k, so still not significant enough, especially on a $210k+ car.
These differences in equipment would probably reflect in the OMVs of both PI and PML's versions, so i guess thats why the PI versions usually fetch lower in the used car market, simply because the parf rebates are less anyways.
I had so-so experience with PI cars, 2 of my previous family cars were bought from PI, both PI closed shop within a year (or change name, which i've discovered is an industry trend), but luckly i didn't get lemon cars or have any major warranty issues to claim.
Imho, just looking at the figures for the luxury sports models, PI is still making very healthy margins, don't get me wrong, i'm all for competition and PI keep the authorised dealers on their toes, but considering PI don't have to maintain big glitzy showrooms and workshops, commit to orders of big shipments of stock or do expensive marketing... their costs are a tiny fraction of an authorised dealer's, gets me considering to open a PI myself!
