anyone here using KW variant 2 on the E60... how is KW generally and whats the real diff between variant 2 and 3? thankss :)

Re: any reviews on KW v2 on the E60?

Var2 is allows you to set your damping rebound

Var3 allows for separate and independent compression and rebound damping options. This one is recommended for a more skilled/experienced driver who wishes to tune the suspension set-up to suit his driving style.

Tuning is a bit of pain in the a** but these suspensions are very well built and they provide excellent ride. The good news is, they are priced alot more competitively now versus their rivals such as PSS9.

jack... how is KW coilovers... are they good? or not as good as bilstein? i want something that i can adjust to be hard ( M style..) and also can be adjusted to be as comfy as stock.. what should i get?

Re: any reviews on KW v2 on the E60?

Essentially they are in the same class but PSS9 shock offers a selection of 9 compression cum rebound settings. So adjustment is made easy that way (turn the knob from underneath the shocks )

Whereas for KW Var3, it allows independent adjustment on the rebound and compression hence it's a tad more expensive. So u have two knobs to tune.

Yes they are really good. U can basically drop the ride more than Bilstein's coilover.
For a more aggressive set up, I vote for KW coilovers ( Var2 n Var3).
For ease of tuning, PSS9 is the best. This kit is probably much heavier too ( u should see the fat struts to believe )

U can forget bout KW Var1, it's too soft. Var2 is at least what you should be looking for.

Once u know bout the difference between Var2 n Var3, it actually makes it bit harder to decide as the price of PSS9 is positioned very much in between and it's got both simultaneous compression n rebound settings. So the choice is yours.

Which suspension system (KW or PSS9) makes the car have a nicer "drop"?

Can you change the settings to also change the "drop" of the car from time to time?

DJ,

How low u want man?? Both KW & PSS9 can drop/slam dam low.

Changing from time to time anytime! But U'll need to pay your mechanic each time loh.

As we've spoken to you the last time. KW is more difficult to adjust the damping adjustments than PSS9.

When a ride is dropped, any coilover will do the look just bout the same, can't tell which is which to be honest. Only when you take a ride then u know which one u like.

For PSS9, u can practically adjust it yourself quite easily
For KW, the difficult part in adjusting is only on the REAR shocks and it's worse for cabriolet. For normal cars, u can get the mechanic to cut a hole on the insulation cover right on top of the top mounts to allow access for tuning.

For ride height adj, u need to pay the labour and everytime u adjust it, you need to do wheel allignment again.

Important thing to note here is KW coilovers are not wheels friendly esp in the front axle. In many cases, they don't clear factory rims, hence spacers are needed.
Based on my observation and experience, for E46/Z4 cars for eg, u need at least +40 to clear, being the more negative the offset the better it clears.
Not entirely sure bout E60 set up tho.
