Amos Cookies & Chocolate Chips

OK, it's now nearly 150km since I've helped myself to a plate of the aforementioned biscuits, and I am pleased to report the following observations:

a. No fault codes, no error messages, no unexplained jerks since day 1.

b. I usually have the car running on Eco Pro (for city driving, since my urban/extra-urban ratio is like 99 : 1), and prior to sneaking a biccie out from the jar, I was averaging 12.5L/100km (8km/L). Since having the chip, I mean, cookie (I'm scared of spies), something quite remarkable has happened - my fuel consumption on Eco Pro (with the Auto Stop turned OFF - coz I hate that function) has improved to 12.3L/100km, and after a happy cruise on Sunday morning to visit a famous Beef Noodle place in JB (about 100km travelled), the fuel consumption further improved to 12L/100km!

I keep the air-con @ 25C, and I keep a steady foot on the pedal - I notice that the pull is definitely a lot more responsive even in Eco Pro mode, and getting out of traffic has become less of a sluggish hit & miss affair.

So far, so good.

Now, I'll have to find time to get the dyno readings out :)

Re: Amos Cookies & Chocolate Chips

Wow. Your FC is amazing. I am not heavy footed but spend most of my day time driving in start stop traffic. My FC is a terrible 6.4 km/L. This is already a slight improvement from 2 weeks ago when it was 6.2. It became 6.4 after a run to the airport and back.

The strange thing is after running around heavy footed over the weekend to 99 bends and old upper Thomson road in sports / manual the FC didnt get worse and it's still 6.4?

The 20in Michelin PSSs were great. Very grippy.

I am now 1900km.

Bro... thanks for the FR... glad to hear you like the chip... I am enjoying it too! Will try to go down to visit Zane to tweak the settings (power and throttle response) up by one notch soon..

Btw we should arrange for our dyno soon...

See u soon bro! Sunday .. here we come...

Re: Amos Cookies & Chocolate Chips

Well, 12L/100km - it's a far far cry from the claimed 7.9L/100km - translates to about 8.5km/L. I will never achieve what BMW claims, but the Swiss Chip has helped the car feel more responsive in Eco Pro mode in urban traffic, which is where I spend 99% of my time stuck in, sigh. I'll show you the FC this coming Sunday :) make you gian for the Chip yourself huh :)

So swiss chip or jb3 better?

To each their own. Different strokes for different folks. Your mileage may vary. Different grass for different cows. Whatever floats your boat. One man's meat is another man's poison. What's good for the goose may not always be good for the gander and other proverbs, idioms and similies :lol2:

I've never sat in a JB3 tuned car (waiting for my turn when Bro Samlambo turns up this coming Sunday), and the way I drive, I reckon the Swiss Chip suits me just fine - allows me the best of both worlds - like what bro jasonmaxima said, the PHAT torque curve is just that little bit PHATTER and fuel economy is still pretty darn good for a 3L car weighing on the wrong side of heavy.

Would it be a good idea to go for the cheaper one in this case? I cheapskate

Re: Amos Cookies & Chocolate Chips

Bro helbreath, my aim wrt the Swiss Chiptech - at least for the first few months - is to get me more Fuel Econ whilst delivering more power, specifically in Eco Pro mode. As far as initial impressions go, the piggyback has delivered on this front.

I'm sure the power bug will bite sooner or later. Then, I'll probably head back to Cocoworld and get them to tweak the settings to deliver more of a kick to the backside, like what bro omshks said.

IMHO, for an absolute mod newbie like me, the Swiss Chiptech was the ideal choice - I had a bunch of guinea pigs, I mean, friends (Bro omshks, bro Drumminz) that took the plunge, so there was some security in numbers. Also, with this costing nearly 1/3 the price of the Kellener's system, it was a good introduction to chipping for a noob like me :)

If you are a mod king like bro Samlambo, I reckon the Swiss chip might be a little too tame for you :)

Re: Amos Cookies & Chocolate Chips

I'm taking the F13 up North this coming Thursday afternoon for a bit of a shakedown run - need to clear my head before mother in law descends upon our house for the next 2 - 3 weeks (she's coming Thursday afternoon - yes, you read right. She's coming, and I'm going - but, still have to come back lah).

I intend to BOV, WOT, clear carbon - whatever euphemisms you guys can think of, then do a U-turn & head back.

Hopefully, after that, I'll give an update on how the car feels at full throttle :)

Re: Amos Cookies & Chocolate Chips

please remember to bring your stack of Malaysian Ringgit...... to pay for petrol on the way back....

Lai lah, Lai wor... Come... Lai! I wait for you, Dempsey Carpark 8am, 29 July sharp :lol2:

Acherly, just this morning, the F02 went into PML's workshop - auto-boot close function a bit wonky again. The PML guys came to pick it up from home. But, lucky for MIL, PML so very kindly provided replacement courtesy car - also another F02 730Li, so she dun have to sit squashed in the back of the 6er...

I'm such a good son in law, I should get a frigging medal.
