Anyone using this to connect to their Alpine Headunit ?
would appreciate reviews ... thanks.

i dont know if its the one i am using but i paid abt 100bucks for it. At first i thought its not worth it, but after installing it, it just blew me away. The sound quality was on the same level as CD if nto better if ur music is encoded at a higher bitrate. I really loved the cable and i dont bother listening to CDs and FM now. However, take note that for wach playlist, the alpine can only handle 257 songs which means if u have more than 257 songs, u gotta split them up into different playlists. thats the only limitation from me so far. Another one, subjectively speaking, is that u can change music form ipod but ONLY from your headunit. And using the glidetouch on the alpiines can be really pissing off sometimes cause its either too sensitive or too insensitive.

Hope this helps..

Cheers!

THanks mate...

where did u buy from from and which headunit are u using ?

i am surprised though that the playlist is controlled from the headunit...which can be good and bad ...

i am using alpine 9855 and i got it installed at my cousins good frens shop. Very good IMO. I know controlling from headunit is good and bad but i believe the limitation of257 songs per playlist would be avoided if u can play direct frmo ur ipod. Its clearly headunit limitation.

I am using this to enjoy my iPOD through my Alpine touch screen. Lovely as response is immediate. But I will ditch it once the Alpine iPOD cable for iPOD video is out coz I have changed from a normal iPOD Mini to an iPOD Video and wld love to have the video interface.:cloud9:

thats true T6..u cant view video on the ipod once its connected. anyway 53% of ppl who buy ipod video dont use it for video. :lol2:BUt its nice to have video functions though.

oh ...ipod video cable is wat model ?

The latest 80GB lor but as Elma mentioned, many people dun use the video function and I dun have a single video in it yet. No incentive to until I can see video in my car coz the iPOD is stased in the car. But I am glad I didn't spend extra money for an external CD changer as who cares about the drop in sound quality which to me is outweighed by the convenience of an iPOD.

Re: Alpine KCE- 422i iPod cable

oh...i was asking if there is a separate cable than the one i mentioned, cos i am using ipod video... or KCE-422i ?

I think there is one available in Europe but have not reached here yet. I think Spore retailers get supply from Japan. Do let me know if u can get one.

But I dun remember paying as much as Elma for the 422i cable. More like $70 bucks thereabts.

Re: Alpine KCE- 422i iPod cable

I'm using an ipod cable with my 9855... i love the ipod cable but I hate my 9855. The touch sensor is stupid and downright dangerous whendriving. Most of the time to select a certain song it takes forever to scroll forward and worse... if you touch it the wrong way it goes straight back to "A"...

My sentiments exactly. I was playing with it one day and e-braked just next to a taxi driver before a red light. You know those taxi drivers with alot of jade bangles and ring on their hand? He looked at me and did a 'You better watch out with his index finger' and you can practically see the jade bangles clinging. FOr a while with the damn music i was trying to switch to was converted into my head to the uncles jade bangles clanging. I switched off the headunit, put my last finger in my ear and went whooooooooooooooooooooooosah. Goddamn 9855!

Mine is the KCE 422i full speed cable meant to be used in newer types of Alpine HUs with full speed control. There is another cable called KCA 420i for older Alpine HUs with Ai-Net features.

Re: Alpine KCE- 422i iPod cable

so where did u get yours T6 ? i reckon it should be about the price u paid also... considering its like $30 USD on the net i think... plus shipping etc... SGD70 seems about right...

sounds like 9855 should be passed from Elma and Jaskin near-accident experiences !
