I saw this on the E92 post.....regarding "early production 335s ....that don't have oil coolers......

Ok drew I think your missing what BMW is doing, I will try to explain since you haven't seen the form I assume. This has nothing to do with warranty or problems the car may have. This form is to stop the talk about the subject because BMW doesn't want this getting out to the masses that don't hit net forums for advice etc...Cliff notes: you sign you shut up you will get the cooler as a gesture of goodwill on BMW's part (a favor so to speak). BMW's goal is most likely to supply the cooler ONLY TO THOSE COMPLAINING and don't want those that don't know as of yet they don't have the cooler not to know at all. Does that make sense? This is a HUSH HUSH form to limit the cooler to only those that are complaining about it they hope. They must figure once the talking stops the problem will be taken care of. They are obviously trying to avoid a public recall and want this form signed and in a hurry...........Like I said this is very scary I know BMW has pride and are obviously not willing to swallow it, but to have a form like this to sign is call for legal counsel. I don't want to sue no one I'm not into that kind of thing, but I can't sign this form without protecting my rights as a consumer..........

anyone bro know if OUR BMWs come with oil cooler or may be afflicted with this problem????

thanks

Re: All 335 owners !!

not difficult to check
look thru the front lower bumper and look out if u c a piece of long cooler fin or not...
They look like radiator but black in color ( usually ) and the size is probably 1/10 of the radiator.

Re: All 335 owners !!

Yes, and hence many has complained on higher oil temp on gauges. Still, the biggest worry is on the fuel pump, which incidentally, post upgrades from Borsch to Siemens, still has inherent problems. Worse, it has no stock on fuel pumps now.

Re: All 335 owners !!

iirc, all Euro spec'ed cars including ours comes with the oil coolers. I know mine does and it was build in 9/06

Re: All 335 owners !!

glad to know that .....the engine compartment is jammed packed with pipes and tubes

Jack - thanks for the drawings !!! Appreciated

Re: All 335 owners !!

Mystic - you should be able to see it from the side fenders, through the gap between the front wheel and the fender. It is alu-colour, I believe.

BTW, is your coupe white?

Re: All 335 owners !!

Will try to look thru the gap as suggested.... Thanks

my car's colour is titanium bronze

Re: All 335 owners !!

Oh. Saw a M-Aero kitted white coupe at J8 few days back, shodded on ACS Type 4 19". Wonder who's the owner of the nice ride. Modded so fast.

Re: All 335 owners !!

If it's AC rims then I m not that surprised if it is fast leh...everything was pre-ordered.

Re: All 335 owners !!

General a little bit - I thought that the most efficient way to cool the engine lubrication oil is to use the OIL-WATER heat exchanger. I'm sure the 335 has it. Why the preoccupation with the oil cooler?
