That is because the person responsible for the original design for the 156 and 147, Walter de'Silva, is now with The Volkswagen Group. His work can be seen in the Audi TT, Q7, A4, A5 and Mk VI Golf.
Don't know how long Alfa Romeo can stretch the old look.

I guess it's a matter of stretching (or squashing) the 8C wonderful look too far..... Look at the Mito, it's all squashed up. The Milano looks to be following in the same direction. But the nose spread over the 8C width looks awesome
