Advise on brake pads for E90

Hi,

My brake pads on my 320i need to be changed in 6000km.
Should I go back to PML to change to standard bmw ones? Feel that its too expensive and not sure what type of pads they use.

I don't mind faster wearing pads, stock pads lasted me 3 years anyway. Perhaps a better one with less fade and last around 2years + ? Any recommendations and price?

Thanks for your time,
Nicholas

Re: Advise on brake pads for E90

good question, Nicholas. I like to know about the options on pads used on E90 too. my OBC show need to be change in 5000KM. 4 potter & 6 potter same right?

Re: Advise on brake pads for E90

i doubt so, I believe a 323i-330i has bigger rotors and maybe bigger calipers, hence different size.
Compared a 330i with my 320i, 330i has bigger rotors for sure. brake feel is also different.
OBC is not very accurate though...

Re: Advise on brake pads for E90

axxis ultimate or ferodo brake pads

Re: Advise on brake pads for E90

I find the stock brake pads throws out too much brake dust. After 1 week never wash car, the stock wheel looks like blakc rims....

i won't stick to stock pads if i have a choice.

This is very true. Esp when it is wet. the brake dust bites on to the rims.
At least u stand out from the crowd :lol2: Even my X5 brake pads dun throw out so much dust.
BTW side track abit, X5 brake pads lasted me 3yrs 2months. Amazing for such a heavy car.

isn't F1 cars too had tons of brake dusts? what I mean is more brake dust = good braking (chiat) yeah agreed cleaning it is pain in the ass.

lol, nono, On my E90 320i, my brake pads lasted around 35,000km. OBC showed it has 6000km left before changing. :lol2:

yeah, my mileage is around 35000km for 2yrs 10months on the 320i and 52000km for 3 yrs 3mths on the X5... Clearly shows which car I favour... haha

I can't just wipe Brake dust off my rims. It bites to the surface just after 1 rainy day.... need to scrub v.hard...

BTW, Is the brake pedal adjustable, meaning set higher? Not safe for ppl with huge feet like me... step 2 pedals at the same time if i dun slant my right foot. PML guys said its not possible on the X5... I remember it can be done on my old E46.

Back to topic, any quotations/prices/locations where can get better brake pads on stock calipers?I paid $7xx for my X5 pads @ pml, including labour.

Re: Advise on brake pads for E90

OT abit...

This is what i do to help with the cleaning of the rims, maybe someone can tell me if it is good or bad.

After i clean the rim until shiny shiny, i spray some rainX on a piece of cloth and wipe it generously on the rim. The RainX kinda make the dust not stick on the rim.

But still have to wash to get rid of the dust. Which is veyr painful (literally) because i have slipdisc on my L4 and L5.

But at least, it comes off with a wipe... provided i clean it once every 2 weeks at least...

Re: Advise on brake pads for E90

Henry, thats a brilliant idea, why didnt i think of that!!

Re: Advise on brake pads for E90

i am ojust not sure about the Rain X liquid on the rims... I used to use WD40.. and that thing eats into the Rims.. after about 1 year, you can feel the surface of the rim uneven.. and when the dust gets into the holes.. they will never come out 100%....

so becareful about what you put on it.. and RainX, i only started using about 1 month ago... i don't know any long term effect yet....

Second OT... i have some scratches on my windscreen.. from the stupid wipers... anyway i can polish it off or anyone knows anyone shop that can polish them off? for how much?

Re: Advise on brake pads for E90

woah, super OT but I'm also looking for ppl to polish/repair scratched windscreen... PM if u find any pls.

BTW bros, Mintex / Endless pads can fit our cars?
I've tried Endless pads on Brembo 4pot front 2 pot rear on my old 350z. Good stuff man...
