Hi thanx for viewing.
My auto gearbox on my e36 is starting to give way
does anyone know where i can get affordable repair.
or is it wise to change to manual

top speed motors. Overhaul/recond boxes. they did mine.e34

Ditch the auto and do a manual conversion and you'll be having more fun after that. Repairing auto transmission will cost you a bomb. By the way what makes u think your auto transmission is giving away? Have you tried changing the auto transmission oil and its filter yet? Do so if you haven't done it and see any improvements before you jump into conclusion.

thanx bros for the advise. the reason i wanna change my gearbox cause it only stay on 3rd and cant down shift automatically, but if i do it manually i can only shift to 2nd

since this discussion is on autotrans, i was wondering if any of the bros have similar encounters as mine:

Whenever i shift to Drive and Reverse, there's always a "Tud" sound when the gear is engaged. And particularly when i shift to from Drive to Reverse, the gearbox actually "pauses" (in neutral gear) for abt 2 secs b4 engaging. Any feedbacks?
