Hi

am considering to change my exhaust( either remus, ss or sebring)
prefer straight through, i tink is SS, am i rite. Just wan to heard out fm bro who change their exhaust feedback.

tks

Bro, let us know your ride, capacity, and mods. Every part complements one another.

hi
my is 318i pre FL.

My idea is to change to a big cone filter and exhaust, hope it can improve the performance. presently notink is done on engine enhancement only exterior mod

any suggestions

When you mean Straight Through, as in usign a whole new pipe with the muffler box? or you talking bout buying the centre piece and muffler box and put together with ur exsiting pipe?.. if so then that's not straight through if im not wrong, but i think it's legal. so let me know.. im wondering too.

First, on the straight through design. Some brothers here have criticised the loss of back pressure from executing a straight through set-up, hence a loss of low-end torque. No first-hand experience of the claim, since I have not done so. But perhaps these words might offer some comfort:

"The reality is that backpressure is the enemy. You want to keep it as low as possible. What you do want is to keep velocity up. However doing the things that keep velocity high involves slightly more backpressure under some conditions. You want to keep the gasses moving as quickly as possible to make both good torque and top end power. The perfect exhaust system would keep the gasses moving as fast as they did coming out of the cylinder and have zero backpressure. However this is impossible to achieve in the real world."

Hope this helps.

Am using only Remus muffler, hence will not be able to comment if the set-up is optimal for a straight-through design.

Cheers

wow sori a bit too"deep'to comprehend. if i got it rite, u refering that at low speed, it offer lesser power as compared to stock exhaust. but for high speed, it offer higher power

or probably share u my objective, is more for pick up  . i thought straight through do a better job, not sure rite or wrong. I mean let's confined this to exhaust and filter upgrade, not to mention cam,UUc pulley etc.

oops i elaborate more, i intend to change to a whole new pipe with box. lookin at twin round type. large cone filter helps? i was quoted by jeep chee on the large cone filter type and lta compliant rite?

Well Turbo....all I can say is if you want a striaght thru setup...be ready for the noise.

It helps in accleration but the noise is just too loud....you can lower the noise level if you chose a muffler that suits your flow. Dun go overboard...you lose out on the performance and increase the noise level only.

Hi ghostrider,

yup are aware of the noise, that the case any opinion for remus and Sebring( both are semi flow right?)

tks

A semi flow will improve your everyday driving. It is after all what you are after rite....you want a little more ompph when driving everyday....unless you are building a track car ?

No comments on the Remus and Sebring...have not used them before.

Hi Ghostrider,

wat exhaust u are on now? tks

you want straight-through? check out thls website. www.supertrapp.com

pretty informative! i've used Supertrapp exhausts on my Honda Xr's in the past...but never knew they had em for cars!.. it seems to be somewhat of a custom job...doesnt seem to be a bolt-on, plug and play solution though.. but i'm damned keen to see anyone use this!!..ehhe.. the sound of a 'Trapp is sweet man....for those familiar with their applications on the Honda Xr thumper bikes...:)

I have used twin supertrapp(12 dics) mufflers on my Suzuki Intruder 1400cc drag bike before.. its damn loud but on the other hand, back pressure is good, gives very good low end torque... wheel spins on the move!!
I dun think anyone will use this muffler for cars.. its way too loud..thumping and throbbing sound.. i am sure it will not pass LTA inspection..

If im not wrong... jeep chee usually wld push LTA compliant mods 1st to u .. so most prob it's not straight through, that being sed.. you shld think bout it.. cause i know for thier system it's not cheap, 1.6k or abit more for rear box and centre piece, still using ur stock front exhaust system.backpresure will be there but u'll not gain so much oomph lar. straight through all the way.. you'll feel it more on the high end, like wat kenntonna sed, can never get both... my 2 cents worth lar.

Hi

tks all for replying, is it true that once exhaust is changed, we need to go down to lta for them to approved?

BTW, sidetrack a bit, 1.9lit step( with 18 inch) on full tank go for arnd 480km mileage, it is on a higher end.

Perhaps. I am running an average 550 to 600 kms on full tank. 1.9 litres steptronic with 18" PGIIs. Mileage improved noticeably when......

(1) I employed a combination of drive (D) and sports drive (SD) mode;
(2) changed spark plugs (to iridium, properly gapped) and engine oil.

Just to be fair for comparison, I will reduce the weight of the car whichever way I could - like removing the spare rim (to compensate for my weight). Kekeke......

ya thinking of that as well, got to find way to better consumption
tks
