Advice on Eisenmann exhaust

Hi all,

Considering getting an Eisenmann exhaust (Sport, not Race version) and would appreciate feedback from those who have one on its sound, specifically is it very loud in the car cabin and does it result in droning in the car.

So far from what I've read, the Sport exhaust is quite loud and bassy, but might have droning at low RPMs, is that a fair summary? My concern is that droning makes it uncomfortable for passengers so wanted to get more opinions.

I'm actually planning to get this for my Audi A4 V6 but thought I would ask on this forum as mostly BMW guys who've put on Eisenmann's thus far.

Thanks!!

i was thinking about the eisenmann's too...:) ..cos i know someone who's bringing them in...:)..

any comments from the others who've fitted these on?..:)..i'm also wary of the droning sound.. a previous experience with SS put me off!..bloody thing was droning all the way from here to KL... felt like throwing up halfway!!!..hahhaha..

cheers

ooohh... B8 3.2L?

Re: Advice on Eisenmann exhaust

Just my two cents..

Had the eisenmann sport on my previous Z4 2.5l.

Outside - Very nice, bassy and definitely one of the most sonorous exhausts EVER. Puts a smile on your face when you gun your car down in CTE, and definitely one of the better sounding ones. The sound while idling is nice and bassy.

Inside - A little bit of droning at certain RPMs while cruising, however this is NOT what you want if you do a lot of long distance frequent trips (e.g. to KL or anywhere which requires you to sit in the car for more than 1 hour). If you do a lot of driving, the sound will tire you out after a while. When i switched to my M, i really appreciated the quietness after that.

That said, this is a real sporty exhaust. :)

Yes :)

Thanks Ryan - very helpful! Thats what I was afraid of, would like an exhaust which is loud when you rev the engine, but otherwise relatively quiet (at least quiet enough to be bearable for the passengers in the car)...

Re: Advice on Eisenmann exhaust

Absolutely no droning for me. Resonators removed and soon to be decatted and side branched. Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment but even the lady co-pilot is not complaining. It screams.....

Re: Advice on Eisenmann exhaust

i had the e-race for a while but removed it because i couldnt handle the drone at 2-3k revs.... but it is the best sounding exhaust IMO

Re: Advice on Eisenmann exhaust

u guys hv been driving the cars at too low rpms liao...
i had em on my prev Z, yes it droned at crawling speed but the overall feel n grin i had far outweighed the drone.

Thanks TripleM. Yours was the Sport (not Race) version right? (from what I read from earlier posts)

How loud is the drone - more like background noise or is it loud enough that you can't hear the radio?

Asking so many questions cos this A4 is meant to be the 'family' car otherwise I'd just go ahead and get the eisenmann's :)

Re: Advice on Eisenmann exhaust

yes, mine was a sports one.
diff cars diff results so i cant really generalize
Of course radio/cd is still audible but to begin with, when u r on the move, there's wind noise etc coz the car i had was a vert.
in a non-vert, radio audibility shud be better i'd imagine.

also bear in mind, the Z has v short exos system so obviously the drone was more pronounced. I'd think in normal sedan, it's much less intrusive as the exos is really just a rear muffler, not a full sys from mid section till the end tip..

I m not sure how the set up on B8 V6 3.2 sounds like but in BMW IL6 M54 engine, it is quite boommmy n sporty, suits the car v well

Gd Luck

I have to agree with Jack here. It is the best sounding exhaust of all the other makes IMO.

Re: Advice on Eisenmann exhaust

so when u sold urs, it went together with the car?
looks like 3 Zs with such exos in Spore...urs was 3rd

Re: Advice on Eisenmann exhaust

from what i have seen... the sport is droning..but the race isnt.... get the race...its not as loud as u would expect... its nice sounding too

Too risky. Race is supposed to be louder than Sport. If my GM finds it too loud then I am in trouble as should have gone for the Sport (even if Race really does drone less cos we will never know) :)

Re: Advice on Eisenmann exhaust

It's a matter of controlling your ankle muscles Bro. E-race will not scream unless you hit over 3500rpm...well thats for my case. Other than that, it over gives a sporty, and a tad bit throaty note.
