Active Cruise Control

Anyone know how to enable active cruise control? My ride is an ActiveHybrid. Not sure if it comes with the active cruise control though.

Re: Active Cruise Control

Go see your front bumper got a sensor ....... If you have it ... you can't miss it. It's unlike your PDC.

Re: Active Cruise Control

Yes there is a sensor. But then it somehow doesn't brake when I approach a vehicle in front. Possibly it's an option which is not I included.

Re: Active Cruise Control

If you have it, your steering wheel control left side should have 5 button and 1 rocker switch, if you only have 3 button, then you don't have it. RBB also mentioned, you'll also need a radar mounted right below your car plate (squarish black box)

You can also use your VIN last 7 digit to check if the option was fitted from factory.... e.g. bmwvin.com

How do I get the VIN?

Re: Active Cruise Control

Pop the bonnet and look at the strut tower for a series of numbers. You will need the last 7 characters.

If you do have the hardware but its not enabled......you can just code it.

Re: Active Cruise Control

I dun think the AH3 has the active cruise control unless u add it as an option. My friend's one doesn't come with it...

The sensor u see in front probably is the PDC

Re: Active Cruise Control

Sometimes being optimistic can be fortuitous - I thought I did not AHL. But saw that my headlamp lens had the right hardware.

Looked through the frm and found it disabled. So I enabled it for left hand traffic, right hand drive.......now that headlight turn left, right, up, down........

I don't have active cruise control ..... Damn.

I've only got 3 buttons on the left side which means to say I don't have the option of Active cruise control. No point searching the VIN.

Actually there's another thing I've been wanting to find out since I got my vehicle... There's a small camera behind the rear view mirror facing the front which I understand is for Dynamic Lighting Assist which helps to regulate the high beam when driving on expressways like NS.
There's also another season above it which is glued behind the windscreen. My guess is that's the rain sensor?

Lastly another sensor just on the left hand side of the camera behind the rear view mirror... What's that for?

3 button is for normal cruise control - the extra 2 button is to set the distance from the car in front, hence the added button required for active cruise control.

VIN aka chassis number is also printed on your log card, with car plate can find your VIN already LOL

You should have 3 forward facing camera/sensor:

1.) Behind rear view mirror - ambient light sensor to dim your rear view mirror if the car behind glare you, works together with the sensor ON the rear view mirror grey oval shape thingy

2.) On top of your windscreen - Rain/light

3.) Dangling mid-air right below rear view mirror - High beam assist

Always wondered about all these sensors..

Came across this video clip on YouTube about the High Beam Assist... It's just simply amazing technology.. Too bad can't use in Singapore.
