Accident Claim

Hi All,
pls advise, had a slight accident today a truck bang into my driver side of front bonnet, fenders and bummer while i was driving out from the first parking lot next to the open carpark entrance which the truck was turning in.

MSIG got me to report PML on monday to file a report, the other party at first wanted to settle privately but now the boss realised is BMW he called and said to report and let insurance company settle it cos his malaysian driver cannot afford to pay for repair costs.

Pls advise do i proceed with repairs first at PML or wait till the claim from the other party is settle ? Will the claim take ages ? My SE advise is to claim under my insurance first so PML can do the repairs first and at the same time claim on the other party and they will return whatever claim to me if the claim from the party is sucessful, which is the best way ?

Re: Accident Claim

I would advise you to go to an external workshop if you don't want to first pay for the repairs yourself first.

The problem with PML is that they will first claim through your own insurance and then, your insurer will then claim against the other party.

For most other workshops that specialise in repair of accident vehicles, they help you take care of the paperwork as well as recommend lawyers to handle your claims.

Sounds like a 50-50 case to me.... cos both is moving vehicles it will have the chance of being considered as side swipe. However it all depends on the statement. 1 thing for sure the lorry will claim 3rd party against u. If your statement is "nice" and also u got a witness for the case chance is u will win. If not both party do on ur own and case closed.

If u need help can call me... 93539355. I been doing insurance claims for the pass 5 yrs. Sometimes it sounds alrite to just let insuarnace handle but you wont know what the other party will do and it dun sound right to let PML claim your own OD first then procced with 3rd party claims.....

I was told by MSIG that i need to bring to authorise workshop or PML since my car still under warranty. In the event if the third party claim is not sucessful i can claim on my own insurance only provide under authorise workshop if not i had to pay for my own repair.

Re: Accident Claim

I am on 50% NCB protector with MSIG, in the event if the claim is on myself will it affect my NCB and premium next renewal ? my excess is $700 does it means i got to pay for this for repairs ?

Re: Accident Claim

the truck got no damage.the boss of the driver call me to file the claim cos the driver cannot afford to pay for the repairs on my car. Btw wat can the truck claim on me on his third party ins ?

Re: Accident Claim

So sad today, PML just called to inform me that they need 1 month to repair my car :(.

Car involved in a 3 cars chain collision Thu last week and was sandwiched in the middle.

F**k the Trans-cab blinding driver drove like no more tomorrow and crashed my car very forcefully from behind when I was stopping for green light.

PML doesn't provide replacement car. They arrange the 3rd party Mitsubishi lancer rental for $120/day but I have to pay rental fee first. The excess if accident to rental car is $1800 too.

I hate it when I'm not at fault but have to pay for a lousy rental car. PML agent adviced me to rent < $150 cause he said trans-cab insurance may not pay rental fee for wkend/public holidays. To the hell with them.

Any advices from bro here?

hearsay, andrew self-pwned recently

anyway i would

1. check with MA (forget pml la)
2. consult insurance company *if repaired in AD claim 1st and then re-claim 3rd party >>> SOP for PML/MA
3. check out external workshop (if engine no damage and mainly bodywork repair) *claim 3rd party directly for repair cost

Re: Accident Claim

Thank wobbles and wt_know.

Trans-cab insurance company (1st Capital) already agreed to pay. Problem is car still under warranty by PML so repair must be done by them and PML takes 1 month to repair :verysad:. They're crazy or what? Just replace M-sport back and front bumper, exhaust, broken lights and boot. And 1 month. Unbelievable.

Hi Mr Comb in the hair. I can close my eyes and anyhow say ur avatar so handsome, attractive :).

Bro, that's still not too bad, at least they (PML) didn't ask you to cough up money first then settle with your own insurance! Also, after the repair work, pls pls pls check for squeaks, sounds, rattles. Don't be swayed by how beautiful your spanking 'new' car looks. Go thru it with a fine tooth comb (sorry MW hehe) and KPKB loud loud if your reverse sensors don't work or you think there's an odd squeak where there didn't use to be one.

Good luck!

Bro Wobbles, thanks for the advice. Will follow accordingly.

At least I feel much better now after talking with bros here and of course after combing my hair too (sorry MW too hehe) :).

Anyway to all bros here, have to be extra careful when a taxi is behind you.
