A Worthwhile Wait...

Finally after a long one week wait, she's officially mine...a 2006 non-LCI E60 in a silver dress.:)

In my other thread, I still have some doubts uncleared. Can the gurus help?

1. Where can I locate the colour code in the car?
2. The car mileage is almost 100k. Do I need to do a servicing at the 100k mark or do I follow the iDrive information?
3. Does my car comes with HID or halogen bulbs?
4. Which aftermarket springs are the most recommended, giving a coilover drop look and yet does not compromise comfort by alot?
5. What rims and colour look best on a silver E60? I am considering a matt black 19" Breyton GTS with a offset of 30 and adding 11mm spacers at the front and 15mm spacers at the rear. Will this setup flush?

Lastly, my car comes with Style 123 rims and almost new Dunlop Direzza DZ101 tyres 245/40/R18 all round which I intend to trade off tomorrow. Condition of the rims are still very good. If anyone is interested, please offer me a price at 90718585. At least I know I would get a better price than trading in. Thanks and regards.:)

Re: A Worthwhile Wait...

1. I think the colour code is by the door with the info about the tyre sizes etc.
2. Find out when the last servicing is done or just get it serviced for a nice start.
4. KW seems decent
5. Personally I think spacers can create problems and adds a little unsprung weight.

Re: A Worthwhile Wait...

Hi, i also got an early 2006 silver just like you did 1 plus mth back...
I personally like matt black rim but if yours is not lowered with no kit, it may not look as nice...
mine is not kitted so i went for silver rims....
for rims, i am using offset of 18 and it does flush just that i will wish it can come out a little bit more. So i guess around offset15 might be very ideal but may risk rubbing with full load. So its look vs practicality.

Lastly do go for a servicing and maintence check as it hard to trust the dealer nowadays that the car is blah blah blah...

Enjoy your ride and congrats...cheers..

Re: A Worthwhile Wait...

Thanks bro Red_Bean_Bun and Bro Terras14 for the detailed explaination. Anyway the dealer actually throws in a one year TWM warranty for me so theoretically I must service my car at approved workshops only. Any recommendations?

By the way, anyone can share the reviews for Eibach and H&R springs? How is the drop level and comfort level? I understand for some cars after changing to lowering springs, the rear will drop lower than the front. Will the above mentioned have the same effect? Thanks in advance.

Hi CP,

Congrats! and welcome to the bimmers family especially the E60ers!

you can check the sponsor site for recommended workshops, BOSS, BVO, J4C, R2D, etc since you r under-warranty, better ask where you can do your servicing.

i have put in a KW V2 coilover 2mths ago... n comfort level is Good! give us your review if u r seriously setting up with springs... better check if you can do the spring coz u r under-warranty hahaha ;p

many mods to do... n i would recommend you start with Power-box first! ;)

cheers

Re: A Worthwhile Wait...

Thanks pongster for your reply. According to the warranty booklet, only BVO and Boss are in the list for central areas. Having a dilemma now deciding which to go.

I just need a decent workshop that can handle my regular servicing without voiding my TWM warranty. Anyway I called up Boss this afternoon and was told they are no longer affiliated with TWM anymore so in the end I went to BVO. No regrets, money well spent...:)
