that's Rock n Roll bud

Re: A lesson in rock and roll

Wow...that is almost like watching Funtwo for the very first time...

and Mr.Chan is?

Re: A lesson in rock and roll

Erm.. so at the end of the gig, the "drummer" can't throw the drum-sticks into the adoring crowd, so how then??

Re: A lesson in rock and roll

So ironic.

The old guy is cool. Understated cool. Like ... woot this geezer got the rhythm man...

All wasted because some stupid marketing guy knows youtube, lucked out with getting a cool old guy, but didn't know that too blatant a brand display turns people off like instantly.

These marketeers got lists and lists of things to do in the internet age, but problem is, they don't know in themselves what they gotta do. Lists are never exhaustive. Therein lies the problem.

Fasterthanferrari,

To answer your question, Mr Chan is hip.

Re: A lesson in rock and roll

What are you talking about Mock.. 1.2 mil hits on the video, and personally I'm sold. Aren't you guys? :D

Re: A lesson in rock and roll

why are you sold? Every keyboard can do this.

It does not make you want to FEEL that Creative is the coolest brand out there. It just makes you pity a cool Mr. Chan who has to work for such a boring company with its name plastered all over.

My suggestion:

1) Get rid of those Creative boxes, instead, show a trashcan which has a Yamaha portatone inside.
2) Put a banner on the top of the screen saying `Chan can Rock!' or something.
3) Old man with specs, cool, let him wear a sleeveless shirt stating `I'm a rocker!' for comic effect.
4) Multiple takes, 3 cameras, finger closeup required.
5) Creative Technology banner in front and back, no other words, except webpage.

Today's people do not want to be marketed to. no matter how brilliant the idea, you must be subtle.

I like Yamaha's style, that's why they are #1 in the USA for musical instruments. Problem is that they don't really sell toys like the ridiculous keyboard+keys.

I was kidding :sleepy:

Re: A lesson in rock and roll

I thought it was a great viral ad. If a geeky old man can play like this and look cool, man, it will turn you into a rock superstar. Who cares about drum sticks when young women are hurling their panties at you?

Re: A lesson in rock and roll

I didn't know his name is Mr. Chan. says WHO?

I called him Paul when we bumped to each other.

Re: A lesson in rock and roll

since you so good at it, why don't you come work for us. :lol2:

Re: A lesson in rock and roll

you work for Creative? in marketing? Then I'm sorry.

But don't you agree with me? with the points I made?

I'm doing research in the new world of customer engagement via internet forums/video/etc. I've practiced for years. My methods are controversial within my industry and even my company but we have had superb successes.

If you want to retain me and my team for consultancy (not sarcastic) I'll be glad to talk.

Re: A lesson in rock and roll

this guy is cool! reminds of my experimental music lecturer who can drum like that on the keyboard too..

Chin Boon is his name.

Re: A lesson in rock and roll

Agree with all the points except 3. lol

But I think most musicians like to leave drums to a real drum set.
