645ci vs 630ci

hi guys, got a relative who's deciding between a 04 645ci and a 05 630ci. both coupes..

anyone with any comments? besides the obvious diff in road tax (the 645's a whopping $4k plus per year) etc, what are the key differences? fuel consumption, maintenance etc?

645!!!
cos the 6 was built as a 645.... not 630
cos the 645 is a V8

i was at groom works the other day. there was this '650i' there. but i checked it out and concluded it was really a 630i
Ah yong confirmed it for me..... when he started the car.... it was quiet. refined like a V6
Then i started my 6 in the confines of the shop..... the V8 roared!!!

plus the sports seats the 630 does not have

anyway, somehow the depre for 645 is less than 630. unless you found a really cheap 630.

If I had to buy a 6, I would not buy the 630i. The 3 litre engine was meant for the 330i. If the stock mkt recover, I also want to get the new 6-er in future, and it has to be the 4.4 TT V8......for now I can only scratch my bola.

the V8 e63/64 has more torque but front heavy
better imho more for straight line acceleration but cant point and shoot as acutely?

but how does your relative drive?
if its just for crusing and he likes the e63 looks
a 630 will suffice

there's always talk abt how the 650>645>630
bigger is always better....
true, only if u used and appreciate it

resale 645s and 630s of abt the same age/mileage are going for abt the same price now
and yet the V8s aren't selling...

might be a pain letting go of it in the future
just another thought
oh another school of thought is, since same price, might as well go for 645
most importantly, what do u think?
plus some 645s come with wood trimmings? :yikess:

I have a '04 630i with Brisk plugs and GruppeM ram air system and sprint booster.

I would say go for the 630i with my upgrades and you'll be a happy man. Without them the car is extremely sluggish on our roads. Sports mode doesn't make for a comfortable drive slow.

The 645CSi is an over-kill for our roads and if you don't run them in Malaysia every so often, the fuel lines will get clogged up. I had a 745i before.

If can wait, what ABD said, wait for the new-6, new look and twin-turbo engine, capable to 'eat' M5 anytime once chipped.

Singapore road 630i good enough... is powerful & cheap road tax, cheap insurance (market value). looks the same to all pple,
even with the 645i power ERP still can detect.
