anyone heard of any problems with the 6 series? looking into possibly getting one.

As far as i know..

None, except that once you get it, you're supposed to let the admin of this forum test drive it for you. Because of reasons unknown. :p

Okay, seriously speaking. I don't think you can find any 645 owners on this board.

HOWEVER, you may wish to base on your research on the roadfly forums.

Hope this link helps! http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/e63/

Seems like there's plenty of potentials & owners alike.

HungryM3,

the only real problem i have with the 645 is that its beyond my budget... :verysad:

AND... ok this might be a bit controversial:

i was driving along holland rd one day and saw a black one from the rear, at a distance of abt 100m or so, the first thing that struck me was that it looks like a HYUNDAI TUSCANI....

I was reading in the EVO mag and they were stating that the 630 would be a good buy cuz that the chassis is more nimble due to the savings in weight as compared to the 645... And that its using the new 3.0L double-vanos engine which is 27bhp more than the older engine and has more even torque throughout the power curve!

And in Singapore terms, CHEAPER! :inlove:

hungryM3,

you know something, I totally agree with you and I have on many accounts mistook the Tuscani for the 6er. You can only tell once you're up close that ...darn! This one's not worth pokin' ...!

mistaken identity lah... not hungrym3, its me

haha mistaken identity for the 6 series and u louis ;)

so no one has actually driven one?

i think the looks it's controversial.. haha.. i used to hate how it looks.. just like how i hated the 7 series, but i have really grown to like the 7 and im sure given time the 6 would be beautiful too :)

well thats the only other newer model with bmw. the 5.. is more like a family car, nothing against it.

if i had a choice i would look into the 3 series coupe or 4 whatever they decide to name it... but it wont be out for 2 years (a guess from PML) im not sure if i can wait that long..

:shhhh: nothing wrong in that... :shhhh:

Just get the 645... the looks will be even more lasting/impressive than the next 3 Coupe / Cab.

i am not driving one yet. however while chatting with my regular PML CSA, they mentioned that out of 100 odd cars sold so far none or very limited coming back to workshop. Taking it with pinch of salt, the 6 probably have less problem compare to the e60 (5 series).

Re: 645 Any comments?

yeah but then the total number of 6 series sold is prob a small percentage of the number of 5 series sold. i see many 5 series in one day compared to 0-1 6 series. So i'm sure it's not really a true picture when they say very limited are coming back haha... it's all a marketing gimmick. EVERYTHING is.. :) regardless i love how the 6 series seem to be more exclusive than the 5 right now.

So i suppose with that said.. at least there arent any major known issues with the 6 that anyone is aware of, like in the M3s, the blowing of engines for nov build stuff like that..

Hi there
Looks like the urge to continue driving a powerful ride is still in ur blood hahaha...

Ok, I dont own a 6er but I hv test driven once when it was first launch sometime mid last year.

Just like you, I hv grown to like the 6er and looking fwd to the new release of the M6( not that I am goin to buy :laughlik: )..

Have u test driven that car yet?

If not, this is what I think...
It's a great and very fast GT cruiser, super smooth V8 valvetronic engine with enormous torque (think 450Nm vs M3's 365 Nm :verysad: ) but power output is slightly less.

I have a good friend driivng one and so far he hasnt encountered any problem.

If u intend to get one, get the SMG version.

Gd Luck

well i was talking to my CSA that i have known for more than 8 years so this info i took it as insider sort of. If this come from sales chap than i agree with you it is bullshit gimmick. The CSA doesn't stand to gain anything from being honest or not.
By the way, when i drove my e60 off the showroom it was the first batch of 300 odd in sg and i could see and hear many of them back in workshop just the first few weeks alone including mine.
So if 100 of the 6s on the road and none come back yet. maybe it is a good sign OR the owner of 6 are driving them occasionally as weekend car.

Yeah... especially the rear. From the back, at night, a 645ci really resembles a hyundai tuscani!

Re: 645 Any comments?

Hey TripleM

yes once youve gone there, you can never go back. Haha gotta find something to match it! I would love to own the M6 but that is completely over my budget! and not worth it here in singapore :)
With that said, no i havent managed to test drive the car because the other day i was at PML, there was a line of people waiting to test drive it unfortunately. SMG? I doubt i will get it, dun like the jerkiness of it. Somehow it's still not a stick shift. If i had a choice it would be stick, definitely not SMG :) it's just not the same !!!

but for the weight of that car, i doubt it will compare with the M3 in terms of power. but i guess ill settle for the 6 in Singapore hahahhahaaaa... just being sarcastic... grown to love the 6 tho, even tho i thought it was ugly when it first came out

i was at alexandra show room today and saw the 6 series convertible... :inlove: wanted to ask for a test drive but decided against it... i was in sandals, berms, school bag... if i were a salesman, i wouldn't take myself seriously either...

anyway, saw what looked like angel eyes on the 6 series, but was reading the equipment list and there was no mention... anyone knows?

i saw the same 6 series convertible.. was there last saturday haha... but they didnt have the keys on hand to let me see the inside.. so could only peek . i think they have a coupe for the test drive. saw a customer drive it out while i was there.
