535i GT

My BIL is contemplating on getting this ride and I'll like to hear some opinions of fellow forummers here.

PML($306,800) vs PI ($264,000). While PML provides a full 3-year warranty, PI would get some kind of warranty-insurance for the car and send to BVO for servicing.

Other than the obvious benefit of a cheaper price, it is worthwhile to get from PI? Are there any pitfalls from purchasing a new ride from PI? Happy to hear everyone's thoughts. Thanks.

Yeah. He thinks the PI deal is great too. Moreover, they are willing to take in his current 525i at the price he wants. I guess he is worried about the 'warranty' bit. PML seems to provide an extensive 3 year warranty to all parts wear and tear. Can PI's warranty matches against that? Maybe you guys can share your experience? Thanks.

Re: 535i GT

For PML warranty, you have to be ready to bang tables and write to BMW corporate (Asia didn't work for me, so I went straight to Germany). IMO, PML 3 year warranty is not that amazing especially if you consider the last year is PML and not BMW warranty so it's like not having a warranty.

Hi DrK

PML got cover wear & Tear? i dont think they do unless they changed their policy? Whats the OMV for PML vs PI? if same definitely PI..as for PI warranty, the only problem i have with them is that warranty is tied to owner not to car..so if you try to sell before 3 years ... no warranty for 2nd owner..other than that..its fine :)

Re: 535i GT

PML sucks....

Re: 535i GT

I went PI route for my E89 as I save $41k to be exact, so with that saving is more than sufficient for any repairs... However my car is warranty by a reputable workshop at Sin Ming Autocare, and the best part is that I can mod my car and warranty is still valid as long as modification is done my the workshop... Go for it M///

Re: 535i GT

Appreciate all the timely feedback guys. We went to another PI today and the price is even lower for basic specs ($240k). That is a far cry from PML's $305 which is also rather basic. Their so-called discount is no more than 3k. Laughable comparison. An obscene savings of 60k.

PML SE told me that all their current stocks of GTs are sold out except for test-drive unit. Even the showroom unit which I sat in yesterday afternoon was sold this morning when I returned for a test-drive. 30+ units from PML should be wandering island-wide as we speak now. A pretty positive demand, if you asked me.

ugly car....

That was what I thought when I saw it in pictures. When I saw it in person, I started to have second thoughts.

The interior is very comfortable and the drive is smooth and punchy. Revved to 8k rpm and the stock exhaust note is intoxicating. Plenty of room in the backseats and it is a gadget-galore ride relative to the older beemers. Quite like the head display unit on the windscreen which I think is pretty cool and not 'beng' like those defi VSD. My only disappointment is the featherlight feel in steering. Steering feels nothing like the other 35i models with N54 or N55 but easily mistaken for a wrx or an audi.

Straight quote from the SE. They brought in 30+ and sold all. 100% hit rate. Small sample size but statistically still positive +ve.

Not exactly sure about the full wear and tear policy of PML. But when my BIL sent his 525i for a minor repair, he didnt pay anything for the part replacement and labour. I suppose that sound good. Forgot to ask the OMV from PML. PI is about 59k I think.

Re: 535i GT

If I buy I sure go with PI, no second thoughts about it. be it a normal BMW or an ///M BMW. and let me tell you this as well, some of the workshops outside provide better repair and services than PML, they know the cars better.

Re: 535i GT

I'm stupid enuf to get 2 bimmers from PML before ....but now with PI waranty wif reputable workshop...no turning back ever since...MODDing as your own pleasure ,get what I mean?

Yeah man. Not to mention those idiots at PML knows shit about their own cars. I will now just PI cars and use the competent and efficient workshops to service my car. Miles ahead in terms of price and efficiency. As you all may know that PI cars now are harder to get due to all the whining that PML must have made to BMW Ag, seeing so many PI cars on the road. But I can tell you that it is still possible. Just a little harder and require more hands involved in the entire transaction. Which means possibly a higher price but no where near PML's cut throat pricing.

Re: 535i GT

535i GT uses N55 turbo right and i assume it may gets HPFP failure
can PI workshop claim warranty for this or must go back to PML ?
