523 Bad Fuel comsumption

I'm getting avg 7.5KL per L with about 420KM per tank... (The last 4 tanks Esso 8000)

My route are 65 HW /35 City, always on D mode and hardly rev above 3K rpm...

Is this norm on a 3K mileage car ???

normally its slightly higher before yr first 10k servicing..
try over inflating yr tires slightly, or change to Caltex...

bimmers are not gd FC esp during idling..

The first few Ks will be high..... after about 5k km, it should stablize. At about 5k km till now (10.5k km), I average about 500 to 550 km per tank.

Don't worry.... come back after 5k km........

But remember to run the bugger in properly.......

I tot most BMW are factory run in so I really do not expect the current situation to change....
(Hope I'm wrong here) and even if it does it should not change much...

On paper the 523 is suppose to do 10KM per L combine, I can accept 9 or even high 8s but at my current 7.5 the situation really sucks...

I koe for sure a brand New less than 1K mileage
320 gets 10ish km
A6 get 10ish km
523 get 7.5km or 13.2L per 100KM ???? ( Worst than Evo or even V8 car)

Can some New 523 owner please share your experiance....

a lot of ppl think dun rev will keep fuel consumption down.
however, i feel reving on 1st and 2nd gear then keep in constant on higher gear will be better.

In normal driving conditions, when hard pressed, my consumption drops to 6.8l/km.... normal driving gives me about 8km/l... I average about 7.5-7.8km/l normally..... You can check this via the OBC....... I usually check before a refill.....

BTW mine's a 525.....

I'm saying let the car run in properly. No use in getting fluttered about this cause your car is still new.... All the parts need to 'wear-in' before you get better performance and economy.....

Come back again at 10k km..... then comment......
