Any experts bought any or looking at any recently?

Saw Samsung series 8. Looks good and its active 3d vs LG6500 series passive 3d.

Some say passive 3d better some say active 3d better. Looking at 55 Inch.

Any opinions?

Re: 3d led tv

I got a 55inch Sammy 7 series 3D LED TV a few months ago and enjoying it.

Passive is good, but the current LG offerings only enable this at half resolution. This means that unless you're sitting quite far away from the TV, you're likely to be able to see the horizontal lines which can be pretty distracting

If you're willing to wait, passive 3D TVs with full HD resolution should be appearing sometime next year.

Best to view the various offerings from Sammy, LG and Panasonic and decide which ones look best for your eyes. It can be quite a personal thing.

Re: 3d led tv

Just recently bought a Samsung 55" LED series 7 from Best.

The only difference between Series 7 and Series 8 is the micro dimming. Seriously speaking I cant tell the difference...so ended up with Series 7. Saved a couple of hundreds. Unless you want to go for 60" which series 7 does not have.

Additional Mod that you can do after you buy this LED TV.
1. Skype Camera from Samsung (selling 200++ in Singapore)
2. Qwerty Remote Control (for faster typing)

Just my 2 cents....enjoy

Re: 3d led tv

Got a semi related qn here. Recently i bought a particular 3d hong kong dvd that is supposed to be a world first in a particular genre. I popped it into a sammy 3d led tv with Sammy 3d blueray player which plays monsters vs aliens 3d without any problem, but the other dvd show keeps juddering. I suspect it could be a frame rate problem but i cannot resolve it. Anyone wants to borrow it to try on their set? i need to troubleshoot it. Pls dont return it sticky.

Re: 3d led tv

Should be the same region. A b or c. Spore should be same as hong kong, Asia. Unless i am mistaken?

Juddering sounds like frame rate issue. This is a DVD not a blu-ray right? You might want to check if there is some setting for frame rate you need to change in your Sammy bluray player to handle 3D DVDs instead of blu-ray.

Do you have a Playstation 3? have you tried playing back with that?
