Piggyboyz can answer you pretty well on this...

:laughlik:

You may want to know that u need more than that...

For Front
Caliper (400 x2)
Caliper holder (400 x 2 )
Dust cover
Rotor
Pads

Rear
Caliper
Caliper holder
Dust cover
Rotor
Pads
total handbrake assembly

Note that the handbrake is bigger for the 330 than 320 so the whole assembly needs to be replaced but again, the drive shaft of the 330 is bigger than the 320 so even if u get the 330 handbrake, it needs to be modded as well. The labour should be around 400 bucks.

U may like to know that there is a rotor similiar to M3 (crossed drilled) so u might get that from the first instance.

The total cost for this job should be around 4k not including labour.

If u not ready for so much hassle, then the 330 upgrade for the frt and 328 upgrade for the rear is the best opion. In this way, u can avoid the handbrake hassle..

If u r ready for all these, then the best place to order is still PML and they should have all the part no. If u still need, then sound out...

;)

Thanks, But got a friend coming back frm germany and he is helping me get the parts in.

Cheers

piggyboyz,

you are the guru!!! thank you for the info. Saved me a whole lot of hassle!

instead of getting the 330 assembly you can also mod your existing handbrake to suit the bigger inner diameter of the 330 rear rotors. labour cost should be about the same too.

if yours is an auto trans car then no problem coz you have the P function, unlike manual cars.

Thanks but at this point of time, I am looking at getting slightly bigger front brakes with better pads for both front and rear inclusive of SS brake lines.

Just went down to PML and they were not happy at all to give me the part numbers for the 325 carriers and discs. They mentioned that it was company policy not to reveal part numbers.

Does anyone know where I can get part numbers for the front brakes looking at the 300mm fronts (don't think i will change to the 330mm brakes cos the bias may be too far way off)

Having 330 for the front and 328/325 for the rear is really ok....

Cos whether a 328 or a 330 caliper, it's gonna cost about the same...

Do note that it will be quite awhile before the parts arrives.. I waiting close to 2 months...

Oh by the way, forgot to inform that for the front, in order to change the dust cover, the wheel bearing needs to be removed and this might run into a potential premature failure for the wheel bearing as according to factory spec, the wheel bearing needs to be replaced everytime it's removed..

So i reckon it's easier to get the 325/328 setup.... u need only the caliper carrier only....

Caliper Carrier (front)
34 10 6 758 120 ( left and right )

Rotor (front) 300 x 22mm
34 11 1 164 539 ( left and right )

Caliper Carrier ( Rear )
34 21 6 758 134 ( left and rear )

Rotor (rear) 294 x 19mm
34 21 1 165 563 (left and right)

i am on the 325/328 setup, brought it over from alan after he upgraded to the 330 setup.

my ride is the 320 M54 2.2, the reason i upgrade was b'cos i upgraded my rim to 19' and feel that the braking lack of bite.

this is one of best mod i have done so far, all you need is just the extra size on the brakes rotor, and it make a world of diff just when you needed it most.

cheers
:)

Scr#w PML!

Here is what you need....

All the part number for all BMW cars from A to Z!

PHPSESSID=ff448347dc446bad269c91c8ec82540b

By the way just curious, why you want to get bigger brakes har? are you dropping in a 3 liter engine or what? those bigger buggers add weight right? so unless you getting more HP.. anyway wasn't reading the whole thread closely. jezzz curious!

I am a home tuner myself and I am looking at go faster bits once i get the first 1000km out of the way......

thanks for the part numbers.

TBT

Can you enlighten me why all the front carrier part numbers are the same? I have checked all the buggers from 318 to 325 and they all specifiy 34 10 6 758 120.... very wierd leh.... :whattheh:

Sorry if this has been asked before

When upgrading brakes, don't you also have to upgrade the brake master pump? Or are the pressure produced sufficient to drive the larger brakes?

yendor,

i am not too sure about the part number, maybe alan or anyone with ETK can help you out ?

i only know the front/rear rotor are bigger than my stock ones, hence a diff Caliper Carrier is needed. i think the size of my stock rotor are 280/260, after the upgrade you will get 300/280 for front/rear.

cheers

emiffy,

When you upgrade your brake size, it all depends if the calipers are changed cos if you go for larger calipers, the volume in the master pump will Pressure vs Volume vs Brake Torque relationship will change. With the 325i brake upgrade, the calipers remain the same and hence the pedal feel will remain the same but when you slow down, (given the same brake pedal pressure) the brake torque will be higher by virtue of the enhanced mechanical advantage.

TBT,

Thanks, but if the caliper carriers that you specified are the items that you fitted then I am ok. Just trying to confirm what I am buying cos it is from overseas.

Cheers
