If I keep the width of the tyres same and downsize the rim from 19 to 18 as in the above description, what will be the handling n comfort characteristics of the ride be like. Car is currently ridding on lowered performance sports suspension.

IMHO,
a. the ride comfort should be slightly better in view that the tyre profile is higher (thicker sidewall) and lower road noise
b. handling should also slightly improve comparing 18" (cornering is sharper) vs 19"

lesser weight due to 18 n 19".... mayb beter FC also...

Wow so far all good comments! You all are my hiadees.
Time to change tyres soon leh, my reartyres wearing off. Keep getting wheel spin on wet roads. DTC light keep flashing!
