Looks sweet.

Could do with a different color though ;) Too flashy IMHO for a base Porker.

Would be great in white methinks..

And a Cayman S derivative with the current 997 GT3 engine? *shivers* assuming by then, the GT3 of that time would have gotten an even bigger engine and power upgrade.

wow........i like it !! , yes yes....white will be beautiful with black rims......

really beautiful.........start saving $ liao....

Re: 2011 Boxster - mini Carrera GT?

It looks ... a little comical now. Like a caricature. All the trademark features are exagerated.

Re: 2011 Boxster - mini Carrera GT?

Not holding my breath. This one is only a rendering - not even a concept car yet... and even the concept car will spawn a much watered-down version. Remember the shock when the production 986 was revealed after they made the world salivate with the 1993 concept? :D

Just to jog your memory of what Porsche showed us in 1993....

And we all know what we got eventually!

But Porsche today has unlimited resources. I would think that the orange car is accurate as it could be, Porsche's design direction is coherent with the orange car.

If they make that a reality, my wife will have something to look forward to.

If the new boxster is going to look like that, I would want to actually save enough to get it :)

Actually I thought this was pretty close to the final product. Granted some compromises have to be made to the rear because of the soft top convertible mechanism (which I suspect this concept didn't have).

Re: 2011 Boxster - mini Carrera GT?

A few more issues they had to iron out...

Radiator piping to the front - they tried, but the surface area afforded by the original design could not give large enough a surface area to cool for some regions, so they had to increase size.

Rear end lift - too much for original design. Production Box had to do the dynamic aerofoil that you see today.

Size was too small for american fats.

Need to see more pics but definitely better than the current one. :)

Let's hope so. The rendering does look good - just managing my expectations.

Actually most of the disappointment (well, my personal disappointment anyway) was with regard to the production car losing most of the curves from the body panels. Viewed individually, each little difference isn't much, but the entire design feel is different when added up. For me it went from being evocatively sexy, almost Italian-like, to cool efficient german.

Anyway, fingers-crossed that the concept, when unveiled, will follow the recent trend of concepts being 95% of production cars...

Re: 2011 Boxster - mini Carrera GT?

actually im kinda not feeling the over-angular front and overall non-rounded design...really like the smooth look of porsches so this one while still nice can be better ironed out a bit...just my personal preference
