Recently purchased a 2009 525i XL E60.
Intermittent issue. When i startup my car at times, i always have a jerk/loud thug sound coming from the bottom. Sometimes cold start it happens, sometimes not. Sometime warm start it happens, sometimes not.
A workshop check that the sound comes from the gearbox shaft leading to the gearbox which they couldn't confirm that its the problem and also can't confirm if stockist do sell that particular part. They say maybe have to "kop" from scrap car gear box. Workshop twisted the rotating "pipe" leading to the gearbox.
Just like a show of hands if anyone has experienced this. I would like to hear some alternative voices on this issue. Drive and accerlation is normal and as claimed from the workshop , it's all good. Pressure is fine etc.
Its really quite a metal kinda sound, cling/thug like that. Hope for advices. Would like to file small claims tribunal all together as the dealer refuses to repair other parts like fuel pump leak, o2 sensor and engine sump leak.
