2000 528i (E39) trans slips

Hi, I'm having a weird problem with my 2000 528i where sometimes I would feel the transmission slips then the tranny indicator will light up and the car will go into limp mode where you cannot accelerate on lower 1-2 gears. When you turn off the engine for 2 minutes, everything will reset and drive normal again until the next slip. No fault code is registering when this happens.:furious: I only have 80K on this car and it seems weird to have this problem without getting a fault code.:screwedu:

Does anybody experience this???

I had this similar problems with my E36 318 coming to 300,000km.

The gear slipped on numerous occasion but there was no fault code and the tranny indicator didn't light up.

I had the ECU checked, ATF changed and flushed but the gear slip didn't go away until I got the gear box changed.

i assume u bght the car that was for sale? i believe there is an issue with the gearbox, a friend of mine who was interested in the car tested it and felt the gearbox needs to be overhauled, thus he didint match the offer. i think there's alost of e39 parts in the market so u can source scrapyards. ultimately it a greatcar, thats what that matters.
