2 Questions for a new e46 320ia owner

Hi,

Very happy to get my used 320ia today. A few questions that I hope you experts out there can advise.

-I got myself a used set (from Y@p bros) of 18x8.5" +40 offset hartge classic 11 spoke (type C) design rims. The owner gave me the proper center rings for the front, but he only had two so he offered to give me a set (2 pieces) of original AC Schnitzer 5mm spacers + center bore for the rear. He claimed that with this, it'll look better (guess offset becomes +35) and that it will not need the center ring since it is 'integrated'. So far no rubbing with this (225/40/18) and no vibration, but can anyone confirm this is the 'right' way or am I better off with returning this 5mm spacer (it does look fiercer though!) for the center ring?

-Will the above brakes clear BBKs and if so, what types are tried and tested?

-Can anyone recommend me a reasonable set of OEM replacement rotors? Slotted or drilled or both is fine. Just same size as OEM but just aftermarket. This is assuming the calipers are stock. Who carries them? Brand and model please?

-Has anyone tried Pagid pads (basic street pads)? Where did you get them and about how much?

-BMW logo on bonnet is definitely in bad condition. Who carries (other than PML) them and can remove and reinstall for you?

-Anyone know how much are those AC pedals (for auto), and if there are replicas, and where to get them?

Thanks in advance. Sorry if I made it so long winded as I have so many questions but kept bugging one bro here with PMs and want to apologise. How do I select for the AC to recirculate the air? There is one with A and one without the A, and one last 3rd option with none of the above lighted. My first conti car....

Re: 2 Questions for a new e46 320ia owner

i can only help answer 2 of your qns...the rest im sure some guys will contribute..

BMW logo can get from Eng Soon. please check resources folder to find the contact info..

as for the air con recirculation, when nothing lights up means totally free exchange of air between inside and out...when A is lighted it means the system determines when and whether to recirculate or breathe freely. in my experience the system may lag a bit so by the time it closes off and recirculates, the some exterior smoke/fumes already have made their way in. if you want to completely block out permanently, press until the one without the A lights up...

that's what i know for now..cheers!

Re: 2 Questions for a new e46 320ia owner

Wow....amazing. Old technology but still impressive nevertheless wrt the Auto recirculation. I did smell (I have very very sensitive nose) fumes with the A but only for a very short time...so all you say makes perfect sense.....now I know what to use.

THANKS!

Re: 2 Questions for a new e46 320ia owner

Congratulations on your new ride! :) I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

I only know the answer to one question regarding the emblem on the bonnet.
You can contact PML or any of the general workshops (eg, Eng Soon, BVO, JuzzforCars) to see if they have it in stock.

I just replaced mine at BVO yesterday for $30... simple 2 minute job.

Hope this helps.

Re: 2 Questions for a new e46 320ia owner

Thanks for the feedback. Replaced the front emblem with the carbon look one and now looking for the same carbon look emblem for the rear. BVO has no stock.

By the way I am interested to find out more about available oem replacement rotors, slotted. Heard that x drilled may have more noise and am not interested in those. If anyone has info on the Brembo slotted ones, please let me know. However, I am looking for those slotted and heat treated ones at the factory and not those done locally. It won't be of the same quality. Might as well get stock ones and slot them locally in that case. Just my humble opinion though. So anyone with more info of available oem replacement rotors for 320i e46, PLEASE, let me know.

BTW, one old 'bird' here said that 318 e46 brakes are different (smaller rotors) than 320/325. I believe that's the case......

Please help. I am totally new to this car...still enjoying it and have a long way to go! :yummie:
