Hi Guys,

ICE is addictive. I am now in the mode of trying to get it over and done with. Taking so much time in research!
Anyway, 2 installers, offer me 2 different systems at the same price of $1650. Wiring choices seems similar. Which would you choose?

Installation of sub by the way is to be Free-air.
Told by installer in 1) that the only cut is on speaker board. No Need to cut metal below. Installer 2) said must cut.

Any thoughts on this?
I would prefer to have no cut into metal if possible.

1)
Sub- Rainbow: Hammer10 - 10" subwoofer (nominal 300W)
Amplifier - Blaupunkt THA 480 (RMS 4x80)
Pre-amp - Power Acoustik Pmr228 (DO WE NEED THIS? DOES IT MAKE A DIFF?)
Component Speaker - CDT CL-41

Total approximate on-line cost = $1350 or so, excl cable

2)
Sub- Cadence Z10W-4 10" (nominal 200W)
Amplifier - Soundstream LW4.480/XTA480 (same amplifier known differently) - RMS 4X60, Installer said that at 13.8V, it will be 4x95W rather than 4x60W
Component Speaker - Morel Dotech 4

Total approximate cost = $ 1150 or so

Question - Which system would you chose? Please vote.

Question - Which amp would you choose? Please vote

Question - Which sub would you choose? Please Vote

Question- Which component speaker do you choose? Please vote

Re: 2 ICE at same cost. Which wld you choose?

i would go for installer 1 as dun need to cut the metal parts.. for cutting of metal parts sometime it will affect the body structure..

Re: 2 ICE at same cost. Which wld you choose?

Why dun u consider sealed-box for ur sub? Much smaller in size(Sealed-box compare to vented and others) and bass much tighter and controlled.

If u insist on free-air, the cut-metal is rightfully the correct way as it will allow the bass into the cabin. For the no-cut, I believe they place the sub on wooden board and will still need to drill them on the metal underside. For the latter, high chance will get the metal to rattle when the bass is pumping..

As for the electrical, try to get processors like Alpine 701 or many others instead of a preamp. However, the processor may go beyond ur mentioned budget above. I would rather go without preamp for many reasons and save it for a processor in future.

My 2 cents
