i think you already have the knob (non-T) type, but just wanting to switch the type? I think in the case of the e36 is just to yank it out fm D/2 position... (unless you are switching fm the T-type shift to the knob, then u'd need to change the shifter arm, which is quite a hassle. I did mine (T to knob) at JuzzForCars a couple of years back for a relatively small fee... trouble-free, easy.. just pay. hehe. (not dat the yanking is not as easy.... u might get ur lips injured, like several e46ers found out
