stock e60 using breyton spirit rims and the following setup : 245/30/R20 & 275/30/R20 yokohama advan sport tires. stock car can go up to 7.2km/l after the upgrade, only 6.5km/l .. 90% city driving , 10% highway. dunno izzit bcos of my driving route(mostly city) i hv such a poor FC not to mention the sluggish acceleration. am now seriously considering tuning the ECU.. look wise v chio on a 20" but FC =(

Re: 18 to 20 for E60?

i have used 7 sets different wheels ranging from 16 to 20inches..

yes bigger rolling radius + wider tires = more resistance

jumping from 18 to 20inch should have negligible fuel consumtion...

everything depends on the weight of the wheels and tires also... provided you have the same driving style..

heavy rims and tires = bad consumption..... no matter how many inch you are running...

as for bro one-two... breyton spirit is very very heavy... and thats maybe why the petrol consumtion went down by that much... FYI my friend's 18inch breyton magic is heavier than my 20inch DPE

in conclusion you can minimize the change of fuel consumtion by getting light rims and tires...

whats inevitable is of course ride comfort... as tire profile gets thinner noise and bumpiness will surely gets worse..

if you want 20inch best is get 35 profile front and 30 profile rear...

i am currently using 30 profile front and 25 profile rear.... comfort is not there..but looks more swee lah..

just adding my 2 cents worth....

i did not expect it but when i was given the chance to drive a 530 newly installed with 20 inch tires, the difference is like night and day.

I expected super bumpy ride, but this did not happen. It was no more bumpy than a 17 inch tire.

The ride improved with an apparent solidity feeling of the road.

It was no more noisier than the old 17 inch Continental Sport Contact 2. Sometimes the new 20 inch sounded quieter because the noise if any tends to be of lower frequency than the mid frequency produced by the CSC2.

The acceleration seem pretty much the same.

Best of all, the car ride now feel so reassuring and incredibly surefooted.
