18 inch tyres will do for 335, no need 19?

Ok lets forget the looks factor for a while bcos almost 90% here on the forum will say get the 19.

Talked to a haidee who had a few cars and he said he was once a 19inch crazy bugger but now his cars are all on 18s(they can take 19 though). So if one procedes the 335(aprox 400 ponies), sticking to 18 inch tyre will do? I think it should be more comfy also, not to mention that its easier to find those 18 inch tyres than 19s which can be hard to source at times. I think the e46 M3 comes in 18s also, only the CSL was on 19s right?

Beng ah, it all depend on how beng you wanna be. 18" is sufficient, but not beng enough.

beng.... in the first place not all mods are actually 'useful' mah... u want really useful one use stock lor..just change to better tires....

alot of things need to be considered mah... 18,19,20 all can fit.. of cors which one more swee... theres always a trade off in everything...

If you are going to drive a lot on B roads in Malaysia, then it may be better to have 18 inch rims due to the pot holes and ore jarring ride if you have 19 inch rims.

Why don't you keep 2 sets of rims? One set in 18 inch and another set in 19 inch?

Use the 19 inch set when you're in Singapore or just driving up to Sepang for a trackday.

It is not a need, it's a want

E46M3 has got two sizes of tires, 18 n 19
CSL or CS only comes in 19
New E92 M3 also comes in 18 n 19...the 19 being the optional rims of course same as in E46

on the 18s you get a better ride, and almost the same traction lateral and longtidunal. You get better protection for your rims in that getting into potholes will not mean bent rims. You spend less on tyres and can change it more often. The rims for the 18s are typically lighter and therefore you have better suspension movement and control. The traction may even be better on bad roads because the sidewall compliance gives you confidence.

19 inchers are an upgrade only for looks, and a downgrade for every other sector.

If you really can tear yourself from `looks' the 18s are the best choice!

I put my money where my mouth is, and my ride stays on 17s when many people are putting 20s on.

Spot on caySman, thats exactly what my hiadee said. He said 18s are:
- lighter bcos they re smaller
- lighter >> less unsprung >> good acceleration/deceleration
- cheaper and easier to replace >> change new tyre more often
- tyre prices go up exponentially with sizes
- 19s are like endangered species, hard to find n small in numbers
But I think the choice of rims is important right. the OEM has 5 thick spokes on the 335 so it will look quite large visually.

Bro, choice of rims important. If Neez made 18" I will upgrade. Unfortuantely they don't and all the other alternatives are too expensive. If can, don't even choose any OEM BMW rim.

Perhaps the OZ Ultraleggera is good value for money for 18". Good weight.

Re: 18 inch tyres will do for 335, no need 19?

The OEM rims are perfectly fine! it does look big due to the fat, bright spokes with no lip. Can be mistaken for 19" even. If u do want to stick with ur stock 18", at least change out the runflats... That will make the most difference in terms of handling/performance.

Another way to make ur 18" look bigger is to lower the ride, get rid of the wheel gap and visually, it looks 19". :)

Re: 18 inch tyres will do for 335, no need 19?

Any idea how much we can get for the runflats as a trade in?
