101 oil variations at PML

Has anyone ever called the BMW Mobile service for engine oil top up? I had a top up warning light flash, and cos it's the long weekend, had no way to pick up a bottle on my own. The operator had no clue how much it would cost (I was hoping to use that as a gauge of the oil they had stocked), and basically just repeated the same line over and over to wait for the mobile technician.

Ended up wasting my entire day waiting (they were prob busy cos it was a long weekend), and when the guy finally arrived he only had BMW 5W-40 instead of the bmw 0W-40 oil i usually top with. i've never used BMW 5W-40 oil before. I thought that oil was ancient/discontinued by now, and like LL98 spec? He insisted it was for topping up SLX but i wasn't comfortable buying it.

so anyway, I'm pretty confused now, cos PML service guys don't seem to even know what oil they use in the workshop. I've been told very often that $29/L Formula SLX (the workshop oil) is 0W-30. So the parts guys also have the $44/L BMW OEM 0W-40 oil. But then the mobile service guys also claim the $31/L BMW OEM 5W-40 oil is the workshop oil? If it's all the same thing, why so many price variations?? I can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone in pml, it's so frustrating.

U can just grap a 1L Mobil 0w-40 bottle at Giant at $20.99, engine warning light show up can still last your drive awhile if i am not wrong just try to top up asap if possible.

Ah, I didn't know the mobile technicians were actually contractors.

I also didn't know quart bottles were available at stores. always thought the parallel imports not sold there, thanks for the tip. I'm just a bit wary topping up different brands of oil. Think i'll change to mobil 1 at next oil service.
